I spent last week in Tumalo, OR, just west of Bend. Dave Wachs, owner/operator of Giant Loop, held this year's WetFest at his home. What an incredible time! There were at least 50 DS riders down there enjoying the hot, but sunny days and undescribable trails available to all levels of riders...

If the seat is shot, you may want to consider having a custom one made for you. I have a Sargeant seat on my Dakar and love it. Corbin also makes good seats. Or check around locally, you may be able to find someone who can do the work and custom design it for your needs.

Austria isn't that far away. Would it be possible to take the train to Austria, to the KTM factory (if that's the bike you really want), purchase it there and then ride it back to Italy? There will be lots of paperwork I'm sure, but could save you big $$. You didn't say how long you plan on...

Have to put these up. LOVE this bike! I'm just about ready for a full summer of fun with it. Still getting ~60 mpg with it on a short shake-down ride yesterday. 100 miles of windy asphalt and gravel roads, warm temp, and very little traffic. Heaven!:bike_rider:

Very interesting and thanks for posting. I wonder why the big boys aren't more interested in producing adventure bikes in the 400-650cc range? Not all of us are looking for tanks.....
