I myself totally understand what you are saying. I drove the Mex200 in like 5 days with bad truck problems, throttle body was failing. If you made it all the way down the Mex200 without any major problems, you did better than my drive down it! You have to admit it is one of the most awesome...
So today was spent working on getting chassis stuff ready for paint. We spent a solid hour deciding on a plan of attack and a bunch of other details. Final decisions worth mentioning were; tear down rear axle before paint, rebuild axles in my shop but rebuild the rolling chassis in the body guys...
Awesome!!
I had wondered about the scavenger hunt, sounds like you came up with some pretty cool stuff Christian. Not sure about your "mommies" though! ;)
Ya they are kind of oval or egg shaped. I am/was pretty sure Rover used them early on but didn't know Cruisers did. Goes to show how many 40-series front axles I have had apart! As far as I understand the tracta joints were designed to last a very very long time. However, if you get a rough edge...
The new shackle and spring plates are done. All built from 3/8s. Here are pictures where you can see the new vs the old...
Now we just need some new pins, u-bolts and bushings and it is a done deal. :)
Crazy stories and exciting! Thanks for sharing!!
I was told the same thing about my dog for the ferry, ie put him in a crate ect ect. Once I paid for my dog though they didn't care about anything and I left my dog in my truck where he was comfortable and happy.
Get it done and join us for a Baja trip in February 2014. :)
BTW, I will see if I can find your hose today and any other goodies you may need that I don't need. Oh and I have some 80-series axles here I don't want. Cut everything off them, weld on leaf perches and you would be a happy camper...
So I got the Patrol sitting next to the 62 and figure it is a good time to take a few pictures. :)
I probably posted some of this before if not all of it. Oh well...
The 62 is actually 3-4", or even closer to 5" wider in the body than the Patrol. I can only get a rough measurement by myself...
Thank you....
and ya, not mixing up r&p but should be able to get two good sets out of four! :)
BTW Jason...Josh sent me a few pictures, will post them in your thread when he sends me a few more.
*Edit* 12-27-12: Krazytoy is my ring & pinion guy! I have rebuilt many o' axles but never done a...
Bit of an update....
I have gone through all our axle, trans & t-case parts and organized them. I have also dug out a spare front axle I have that is completely torn down and cleaned. I have most bearings and seals on hand to rebuild both axles but I am lacking the carrier bearings.
The place...
Man it is hard to tell Josh's whole 60 is covered in bed liner. He did a good job on that. And I am now sold on Procar seats.
Love your 80 Jason, hate the steering but maybe you have steering issues?
Not a great day, not a bad day but it was a good day and fun. Need more snow next time!
