Cooking an omelette in a bag

ANother idea... Bring water to a simmer, add 1/2 tsp of red wine vinegar, crack egg gently into the water. We call them 'poached' eggs ;-) and no bag to recycle.

    Favorite Pork Rub

I use a 'mystery' jerk rub that I get in Jamaica. It does have some Scotch bonnet pepper and allspice in it, but is extraordinary on a pork shoulder.

    Cactus proof clothing

Being a bird hunter, I have some ideas about thorn/cactus proof clothing and footwear. Footwear - forget any boot that is not all leather. Boots with stout (Vibram type) soles and leather tops are the only way to protect your feet when walking in cactus and thorns. Leg protection - the best...

    RTT Question

Short answer to your original question is YES you can mount an RTT on the Yakima system on your camper shell. The track system is what I use on my F350 (ARE shell) with Yakima cross bars. It is even stronger than individual mounting plates for each tower. Either will work, but the track system...

The death of a diesel engine

MARTYN I am sorry to hear you are having these troubles. Have you pinppointed where the damage is occurring? Turbo? Mains? What? Seems to me that this would be the determining factor. Perhaps a rebuild of what you have is the way to go. Sorry that I am no help, my 7.3 is coming on to 90K miles...

Please forgive me, Newb to 60's

Stock FJ60s in the US had 3.73 gears, 4 speed, semi-floating rears with drum brakes. Fronts were FF. Vulnerabilities include rust on the frames and lower 1/4s, sagging suspensions, oil galley plugs, PS pumps, and mystery smog system problems. These are mainly minor issues except the rust - get...

    Pull-out Kitchen Thread

CampaUSA makes a nice kitch for their trailers and EVS. I have used one - very compact and simple, but well built.

    Converting 6.9 diesel to 4x4

Thew 6.9 is the predecessor to the 7.3 and is closely related. They are both by International, and I believe they share the same block.

Someone design a shelf for the Maggiolina tents

You could indeed cut an access hole if you have this style Maggiolina. I would be careful not to sacrifice the stiffness of the box. Fit a stout door or cross brace. M

    Ford 7.3L Powerstroke. Any experience?

I bought the earlier 6.9L F250 in 1983 and drove it a lot. Eventually I sold it, and it has been resold several times since, and is still on the road. Only problem I ever had was an injection pump that was replaced. The torsion bar front suspension was a POS. IMO. I now have a '01 F350 SD...

    Converting 6.9 diesel to 4x4

I had an '83 Ford F250 HD with the 6.9L engine. It had a BW T-19 4 speed manual tranny and two speed 4WD Tcase with dana 60s. I would think that a wrecking yard could provide a complete factory 4X4 drive train for your van. This is a very good engine and drive train combination.

Is Cook Partner the best? Money vs. Quality

The Partner is a good stove. The only complaints that I have heard is the wide spacing on the grill bars, and the windscreen system is a bit flimsy.

Someone design a shelf for the Maggiolina tents

This design element has changed in the late model Maggiolina. I do not have photos, but will try to get some when I get my new tent mounted on the LC.

If you are concerned about price, the Toyos are probably off the list as well. Thought about Coopers?

Is Cook Partner the best? Money vs. Quality

You might consider Campchef stoves as well. More performance than Coleman, less money than Partner. EDIT: Here is a link: http://www.outdoorfireplaces.net/campchef/ats-50l.html This has an aluminum case, two 25,000 BTU stainless burners, three sided windscreen, legs, and closes up like a suit...

Someone design a shelf for the Maggiolina tents

I remember the rig, but can't remember his name. There were a lot of our tents in the camping area. I tried to get around and met everyne, but also had to be at our display most of the time. I am looking forward to 2010 Expo.
