The midland unit does not have all of the features of the Cobra 75, but it does allow you to go portable with batteries if you want to leave the vehicle. I researched both radios a couple years ago and ended up with the cobra due to cleaner installation and a bit better performance/quality.

As stated above, have one of the local guys from a land cruiser club look it over. I think the 62 has rear shoulder belts, so that may be an option as well, especially if you are planning on an AT swap anyway. If you love the I6, why bother with the SBC? Stay safe.

Just be sure not to go crazy when greasing the splines through the grease fitting. You can add too much and cause the shaft to hydraulically expand. This will trash your transfer case output bearings at the very least.
