    What am I looking at?

Thanks for the quick answers. So this is really only useful in a "wheeling" context...I.e.when the suspension articulation is being worked hard..

    What am I looking at?

Looking at a late 2008 461 based G. Looking at the suspension I see this strap.... Anyone know what it is and what it's purpose is?

Overland Journal "The Ultimate Overlander" Article

:-) This is, of course, one of those discussions that will never end. So much of it is subjective and not every choice fits for everyone..... but it is fun to discuss! "I think it would also be interesting to do an article or series of articles that explain the differences between some of the...

    Satellite television?

If and when I use Sat TV (very rare) I do so on my Mac with Satellite Direct (http://buy.satellitedirect.com/?hopc2s=pbsbluejay). Its OK, but I generally don't watch TV when I travel. The other options that I know of are to get/maintain internet connectivity and use some kind of service like...

    Now THIS is cool

I always get a big philosophical when I see "mods" like this...... At what point does the original vehicle become something other than what it originally started as? In this example, we have a Sienna, but it is built on a Tacoma chassis.... hmmm, so already it really isn't a Sienna anymore, is...

Most durable watch ever? Victorinox INOX

well, if my watch was experiencing any of those things, then I think the least of my worries would be how durable it is......... " oh man! I just had a fall of 10 m, was repeatedly driven over by 64-ton tank, and spent two hours at 90° in a washing machine.....but thank God my watch is still...

Abenteuer Allrad expo 2015....my 2 cents

" I'm thinking when driving in mud tracks where big trucks have created a very high center, a "normal" small 4x4 has real problems there... Believe me, I've experienced plenty of that in Africa. One does not have to fit a humongous tyres on these!" I certainly do not deny the off-road...

Abenteuer Allrad expo 2015....my 2 cents

Nice & great photos! My only comment would be about the Iveco Daily.....I find them larger than I expected....but not huge. It is an intriguing platform and I have considered purchasing one. But then I saw the 5030 Unimog and went right back to it!

Abenteuer Allrad expo 2015....my 2 cents

Alas! I wish it were so! One day it will be painted a wonderful, flat sand, but for now it is a (warning ...what follows is cringe worthy) glossy black. I know, I know...that is a appalling color for a expedition vehicle. Let it suffice to say that I found this poor girl BLIN-Ged out at a...

    ORC's Restore of a 30 year old 280 GE

This is not new news...if fact it is a bit dated (Sep 2009). However, in some recent conversations I have talked up several local, German companies for the peerless work they do on several vehicle types. When it comes to the G wagen, I hold ORC (orc.de) in highest regard. One of the reasons why...

    Abenteuer Allrad show 2015

I have always found the camping area to be one of the highlights of the show. At the show itself you see a lot of fresh builds with great ideas..at the camp grounds you see builds that are in use and have seen the road.... the real deal as it were. Unfortunately time didn't allow me to visit...
