A lot of what I am reading here seems to be more relevant to heavy off-road/wheeling endeavors. Unless I am misreading this, the comparison is for overland travel. While there is some overlap, they are not the same. This distinction often seems to get lost...especially by my NA colleges. :-)...

Before you all flip out......I know this is not helpful (but funny?) anyway, it is what I use (no batteries required!) Have you considered a rechargeable handheld vacuum? Something you could charge off a power inverter or so? These tend to be more powerful (and useful) than a 12v model.

I think you are going to get a wide variety of answers on this one..... :-) my 2 cents.... Loads on the roof are evil. :-) The more weight up there, the more issues you will have with handling and the risk of rolling increases. First thing: forget the Jerry cans on the roof. This has NEVER...

for the most part I have given up on buying in the US and shipping to Germany....it's just too expensive (don't forget to consider that the Zoll will most likely capture your package and require payment of a tax before releasing it...13.3%??? not sure what it is at the moment...but of course APO...

I hear you. As I said, was trying (and failing apparently) to be funny. it happens. I find the "LR Guy" designation a bit surprising. Always thought of myself as a "all-around guy" or maybe even a G wagon guy if it comes to that. Certainly have no beef with Jeep, LR, etc..driven most of them...
