    Refrigerator reviews?

Jeff, I am afraid that, IME, trailers are WAY tougher on gear than a vehicle. I carry my Engel 45 in the back of my LC. M

How to mount and dismout roof mount tent

We sell the Harken Lift (made in USA) which is inexpensive, designed to do the job, and easy to use. One person can easily remove or remount a tent in minutes. M

    Modern Roof Top Tent Design

On a one year, 'round the World expedition I would consider ease of deployment, weather and insect resistance, and DURABILITY. Cots and lightweight folding solutions, ground tents pitched on the roof, etc. are going to cause grief, IMO.

    Dynamat to quiet a diesel

My truck has Dynamat EVERYWHERE in the crew cab. Inside door panels and door skins, headliner, rear cab wall, and floor with extra 1/2" of the foam matting that Dynamat makes. Took two guys all day to install. Results are as above, and audio and conversation is a lot clearer. Sound levels went...

    Dynamat to quiet a diesel

Had a complete Dynamat install done today on my F350 SD. Doors, floor, roof, hood, and back of the cab. I does sound better even though the db level is only slightly less than before. There seems to be less ambient high-frequency noise. Gauges tomorrow. Then tires.

Want to buy a new rifle

Why not just alter the bolt handle on the Swede and have it scoped. This will cost a fraction of the proce of a new rifle and quality scope. The 6.5 X 55 is a great cartridge... better than the 7.62 X 39 IMO.

    2005-2006 Ford 6.0s?

The 7.3L SD F350 that I own goes down the road pretty well. Not as good as my Expedition, or even my 80 LC. But it has power that the others don't, even though the 7.3L is low on the ration of power to displacement... it's an industrial engine. I expect some improvement with new Revos and some...

Toyo OC ATs vs. Bridgestone Revos

DAN -- Looks like you had a great trip - lots of beautiful pictures. I got out for a trip to a friend in Hailey, ID. Part 'work' and part play. Need to go fishing but running out of Summer. M

Toyo OC ATs vs. Bridgestone Revos

Thanks all. Dan - did you have any issues keeping the MTRs balanced and true? The set I ran on my 60 were a PITA to keep in trim, and wore quickly. I am resolved on another set of Revos. M

    Maggiolina RTT on Sacto Craigslist

Looks like a medium Maggiolina Topline. Killer price, since a medium Maggiolina is about $2699 to $2999 new. If cared for, they just don't wear out...

    Fly Fishing: My first fish

This whole fly-fishing thing is a long and slippery slope. Totally addictive. Congratulations, I think YOU were hooked.

    ford excursion

I would not be afraid of a moderately high mileage Ford truck with good maintenance. I've owned a number of them that I drove to very high miles with minor problems. My Expedition (5.4) has 180K and runs very well. My F350 (7.3L DT) nly has 70K miles, so it is too soon to tell...

    XJ RTT mounting Q's

Multiple crossbars are a good idea on tents that are on gutter mount racks. Even if the tent does not require the support, the extra contacts points distribute the weight across the gutters better. The pounding can cause the tower feet to crack the caulking in the gutters... and cause A and B...

Toyo OC ATs vs. Bridgestone Revos

Jack, that is the kind of data I needed. My Revos are at about 25K miles and show little wear. And my modded 80 is not a lightweight truck. I am now thinking that Revos in LR - E are the way to go.

Toyo OC ATs vs. Bridgestone Revos

I am preparing to 'retire' my F350 with either of the two tires above - in 285/75/R16. I would probably go larger, but this would require aa leveling kit on the truck, and it is tall enough already. And, yes, I read the tire FAQ about the Toyo MTs... Love the 285/75/R16 (LRD) Revos on my LC...

    Aux fuel tank idea

My '96 Landcruiser has an 44 gal. aux tank with parallel, redundant fuel system all the way to the engine compartment. It has the non-USA dual filler neck and has always passed CA smog. The operation of the system is simple and reliable. The wiring and switching is more complicated than a single...

    Waterproofing AutoHome Canvas Tents?

The OverZone is NOT cotton canvas. It won't leak in actual camping conditions. The top is very waterproof, and the sides are highly water resistant, and breathable. It is always better to NOT spray your tent with a high pressure hose. It accomplishes nothing and can damage the fabric. Read...
