    The Tauler Jack thread

Always good to get pics back of the #TaulerJack out and being used.

    Receiver Shackle Advice Please

The typical 5/8 hitch pin is going to be the most critical part in the assembly ( smallest widest beam section ). A quality unit is going to show signs of failure about 35klbs-ish ( and there is no rating system on them in the market pretty much at all ). The good news is that most hitch...

    PTO Winch

With it driving directly off the crank, I would drive a hydraulic pump through a simple dog clutch....and then a hydraulic winch. How did they disconnect power to the crank driven PTO water pump before?

    Receiver Shackle Advice Please

Thank you, it was a very challenging part to have manufactured. All that is sorted now in the 2.0 size, now moving onto the 2.5 and 3.0 version.

    Receiver Shackle Advice Please

This is how I solved all the common issues. I call it the SSRA ( Soft Shackle Receiver Adapter) 'SaRAh' Device. Features- -Safe 1.0" working pin diameter for soft shackle load interface. This provides the strongest possible connection to the common 5/8" pin diameter possible in the...

What is between an ARB twin and Oasis electric air compressor?

Let us know how you like it long term. I have my reservations about the York style compressors coming from using them in engine driven OBA applications. They either seemed to stay alive long term BUT had a healthy amount of blow-by oil in the air stream that could not be removed with a filter (...

Do we really need a spare?

Why only carry one spare tire and wheel? You have 4 or more tires that could be damaged......

Do we really need a spare?

Yup, for sure it can make a difference.......weight, storage volume, visibility, etc. I always suggest that people completely strip down and unload their vehicles every few years. It helps keep an eye on weight bloat and gives the driver a fresh perspective on how the vehicle can feel when...

Do we really need a spare?

Just curious, what type of punctures did they have that where non-field repairable?

Do we really need a spare?

Getting the stem through is pretty easy with the right tool. I use one of these. Works great for fishing a new stem in from the backside if you have beadlocks and tear off a stem too. I got to have lots of practice back in the day. Had all 4 tires on my pickup slashed while in college. I had...

Do we really need a spare?

Someone has to mention the new 'GlueTread' option for emergency tire repair. https://www.gluetread.com/ This is on my list of things to test out for sure. Modern adhesives have come a long way....

Do we really need a spare?

Never to late to learn. A spare tire only fixes a single issue. What if the same stick that takes out the front tire takes out the rear tire too. Having some other options will be good even if you are already carrying a spare tire...or two.

Do we really need a spare?

Could always sew up the sidewall with some stainless safety wire and slip in a tube ( or try to plug/patch the sidewall )

Do we really need a spare?

I've definitely been thinking the same thing, especially since most of my vehicles run very large tires on relatively small platforms. I ditched carrying a spare wheel many years ago, and have been taking the tire less and less. Not having the tire mounted on a wheel allows me to carry ( a lot...

What is between an ARB twin and Oasis electric air compressor?

Yes, well regarded quality units, but even their largest unit is 'only' 6cfm free flow ( 2.6cfm at 100psi ). This would be just about the same as the ARB twin. I'm looking for more like 8-10cfm at 40psi give or take.

What is between an ARB twin and Oasis electric air compressor?

What else on the market that is between an ARB twin and Oasis electric air compressor? I have an ARB twin in my old Jeep and it is a good overall package, especially since it fits under the passenger seat and is decently quick with the 35" tires, but I've been wanting more lately. I run a 40"...
