Full Tour Of Our Jeep Gladiator We Are Driving Around The World

I enjoyed the walk around. It’s nice to see what folks have built and what works. It’s kept me from making many costly mistakes in my own camper jku build. Happy travels Eric!

I wouldn't have believed that ever existed. Thanks for posting!

Suitability of a 4-door JK jeep

I bought one in 2013 and it worked well for hauling two teenagers and a grade schooler. I had four kids at the time and that ultimately lead to it's departure. Since then we've had kids moving out and now we have two of them. One of them has been in use since 2018 and the other was purchased...

Carrying extra gasoline with Outback and teardrop

That's what I'd do and have done in the past. It's a cheap, easy and well tested solution.

    1980 CJ7 build

I get it. I have one with a pickup bed and it's the most used vehicle on the property! BTW, I love the military style build and the windshield idea is genius! I wish I'd have done an OD paint scheme when I built mine! Maybe next time. It is green though......

    Jk suspension

I think you may have surpassed the GCWR of the JKU with that big of a saw!

    Jk suspension

This is 150% correct, unless it’s a mall crawler. Any vehicle built to load for camping/expedition use should have a rake when unloaded. It might not have that look that people prefer but it’s correct for it’s use. I see a lot of droop in trucks and suvs that are loaded because of incorrect...

    Jk suspension

found it. Compare the factory measurements to your Jeep and you’ll have a better idea how tall your springs need to be.

    Jk suspension

I can’t find the diagram of the rear spring suspension right now but here’s the front. This will give you some indication of how much spring lift you have. The only real variable is how heavy your Jeep is.

    Jk suspension

If the Jeep has 35's what kind of lift do you currently have?

    Off road minivan

That's very informative. I've been driving Jeeps my whole life and had no insight at all on the differences. Thanks for the link!

    JKU Sleeping Platform Overhaul

So after a trip with the new platform camping on the coast I think I'll list the pros and cons so far. The first pro was totally unexpected. My fridge is muffled a bit and I'm not awakened at night by the ice cracking sound or the compressor speeding up. The second pro is that my Walmart bin now...

    AEV quits the JK

It's all driven by consumerism and tattooed guys with flat brimmed hats that make most consumers think they need the latest and greatest. Nevermind the TJ is a great platform, or the JK for that matter. It's all about the JL and JT now, everything else is old hat. I don't see this as prevalent...

    Springs and shocks

Several companies offer springs with a stiffer rate for overloaded Jeeps. AEV has a line as well as Teraflex. I'm running old man Emu's on mine and I've been real happy. They offer three different weight ratings in the height I'm at which is 2.25". I'm not sure if they do that for the taller...

Hey, what's wrong with that? That's what I do with my Wrangler, LOL!

    JKU Sleeping Platform Overhaul

I thought I'd add a few more pics that show a little more of the setup while I'm waiting for my wife to leave on vacation. Here's a view of the front of the platform. I used a scrounged piece of aluminum angle for the front edge this time instead of a 2x2. The angle saved me some weight which...

    Land Rover ideas for Jeeps

Definitely the most interesting vehicle I've seen in a while! I like the interior wood finish and the proportions are right for a defender. I don't get the rear hatch though........Looks like a good ingress for dust and water.

    JKU Sleeping Platform Overhaul

I reused my front panels for the time being, and had to have a way to raise the seat back to support them now that the platform is taller. The solution isn't really glamorous, but it works well. I cut down a long 7/16" bolt into 1" pieces and taped the pieces to the seat hinge right above the...

    JKU Sleeping Platform Overhaul

So after a bunch of brainstorming with different ideas bouncing around in my cranium I decided to let all of those thoughts out of my head so I could get back to normal life already! I had some good ideas on paper, had learned from the first couple platform versions and felt it was time at last...

    JKU Sleeping Platform Overhaul

As you can see, the original platform was great for keeping our camping gear in the Jeep full time. We could use the Jeep for grocery shopping and day to day tasks without having to unload it. The only real downside to the design was discovered after using it for a while. My wife and I tend to...
