Not really much of a overland build but my wife did just receive her new 2022 Bronco. We do longerish distance road trips to offroad parks and wheel with friends. Due to our location in the midwest there isn't much in the way of traditional "overlanding". Also we live in the country so it is...
Bad designs are nothing new either.
Dad had a similar issue with a penny in his 92 GMC, I think it kept blowing the dash light fuse, the truck ran fine.
I suspect it is a nanny feature so you don't throw it in 4wd while you are spinning tires. If the system doesn't see what it wants you...
My issue is how everything is tied into everything.
Stuff broke before but other things generally didn't care.
A modern 4wd is a torn abs sensor wire away from being a 2wd. I see it all the time on farm/construction trucks. My 02 has had the abs light on since last June and the 4wd works...
Agreed, kinda why I prefer the older stuff.
Whatever hokey environment an automaker tries to cook up usually doesn't jive with what I want in a vehicle interior.
Dimensionally a Supercab 86-11 Ranger has basically the same footprint as a new Ranger.
With a 3" lift and 31's my 85 looks a 19+ in the eye and isn't a whole lot shorter (std cab 7' bed). Later ones sat higher than mine did originally (could fit 31's stock)
If you are on the fence about a '22... make up your mind.

The curt wiring kit has a module for around $150 that get you to a 4pin.
I just want the receiver, with its tow rating it isn't much good to me personally as a tow pig.
Just Bronco. Probably because of all the launch kerfuffles.
Ranger goes down the same line as Bronco and even can appear in the background. No pictures for them.
Reserved 11/18/20.
So awhile but not as long as some. We dodged some of the big ticket constraints by dumb luck too by having a fairly basic build.
The only thing we changed from our ideal to speed it up was dropping the tow package... and she got the Curt receiver kit for Christmas.
I might, we don't have very extreme plans for it though. Basically it is going to be my wife's dd. Add a receiver hitch and some lights and that will probably about do it.
