    Paper 2.0

You can use this link to download all of these free topo maps and follow the instructions to add to Garmin's mapsource. Then you can also sync these maps to a Garmin GPS device. I have a super cheap old nuvi with every state topo map downloaded to it via SD card. Its not searchable like it would...

4x4 IFS Swap in Heavy truck

Because: Reasons... Easy and difficult are not synonyms for pointless and worthwhile respectively. The front end is specc'ed out for the weight of the cab and engine mainly . That doesn't change a whole lot no matter what the gross weight for the vehicle is. Why there are dualies in the...

    Gaia Questions

They tweak this all the time. It's a lot better than it used to be. So there is the potential for change there. I do wish you could set some sort of max zoom out detail level to lock in the detail and still allow further zooming out. For the gajillion maps and layers Gaia has very few are good...

    Gaia Questions

The Gaia topo layer is the best bet for just downloading huge areas of at a time if you don't know where you are exploring ahead of time from an info vs storage aspect. That and the public land overlay are really all you need for finding campsites. I have half the Western US, Michigan of that...

    Paper 2.0

I have a milk crate full of dog eared Gazetteers for 2/3 of the country. I have 2 others filled with USGS quads and other trail maps and books. While I am attached to them sentimentally they just are not worth bringing anymore. Even my faithful US interstate atlas hasn't made a trip with me in...

    "Solar Generator"

A 7 paragraph response defending the terminology pretty much nullifies this statement lol.

    Gaia Questions

All you have to do is "do stuff" on the online version and it will sync to any of your devices. To select the maps for those areas you can just manually select the areas and layers you want on the individual device or select download map along route on the device. That's it. The auto route...

An Important Message - Be Wary Of Allowing People to Your House

If you have enough money to buy a Bison and a RTT you definitely have enough money to pay for a garage door that you broke.

Argentina and the bluedollar exchange rate

2016 In Sao Bernado do Campo Brazil. 2018 in Toluca Mexico. In Mexico they banned my account log in entirely and after waiting on hold for couple of days they basically told me to pound sand and call back when I was home in the US to try and fix the issue. Gave up on them entirely after that.

Argentina and the bluedollar exchange rate

Western Union has blocked me trying to send money to myself twice as fraud. Once closing my entire account. Cool info but I wouldn't pee on WU if they were on fire at this point lol.

    Garmin Overlander

Downloading is downloading. Not sure why updating the Garmin at home on WIFI vs downloading all the stuff you need for anything else on WIFI is any different? Also it's pretty clear Garmin stuff isn't a whole lot more reliable than anything else is. I have used and updated Garmin stuff for years...

    Double Din with GPS?

Honestly replacing the double DIN with a single DIN and a storage cubby and just using a stand alone tablet is maybe a better option. There will probably be aftermarket stuff that supports wireless Android Auto in the future and Gaia will eventually support Android Auto but I think stand alone...

    Garmin Overlander

When Starlink gets up and running the last viable reason to buy a Garmin, affordable emergency sat coms, will be moot. It is pretty clear their stand alone stuff are all dead men walking.

    Couldn't not post this lol

Man whoever is slapping a Mass vehicle inspection sticker on that thing either likes to jeopardize his livelihood or just doesn't give AF about anything LOL.

Advice needed on choosing the right snow chains

Be careful with the thin alloy chain on anything other then packed snow. If you are breaking trail or spinning under a load it's super easy to break those chains. They just are not up to the shock loading of spinning tires and losing and gaining traction.

    Wood Stove versus propane

I have a Mr buddy and a wood stove. My only moisture problem comes from not using a heat source and then I get massive amounts of condensation and ice just from breathing. My use in in a RTT with an annex the Mr buddy sets up such a strong convection current with it being on the floor of the...

problems with Rhino batwing awning and extension zippers

That sucks. I guess they are far enough into getting too many returns their attitude has changed. For the price of those things itss awful that they were not better in the first place and awful they are not standing by it now. I would try going to an auto upholstery place or a Mexican run...
