Pocket Media Group buys Gaia GPS

A dying media form conglomerate buys a tech app company, great. I hope this isn't a carbon copy of the total poo show that Hema getting bought out was in OZ. Hema apps are total garbage now.

Detroit Eaton True Trac - How do they work?

I don't really agree with the instability in snow part on all except the slickest black ice type of thing on an off camber off ramp from a dead stop. Other wise the extra traction will tend to move you forward before the yaw event happens. I mean open diffs can provide the ultimate stability by...

    Ridiculous descriptions from sellers

Anything with 'breaks' 'axels' 'Cummings' not specifying what engine or trans or only having one crappy picture is an automatic do not call LOL.

Jeep just released a JL with a payload increase of 500lbs

I have never heard of a non-commercial vehicle doing non-commercial vehicle things being weighed after an incident ever in the US. I doubt it happens in Canada either. I think this is mostly folklore. While insurance companies indeed gleefully look for ways to not pay out they can't use weight...

    New Defender News

Pretty sure this only tracks vehicles that are at least 3 years old. So the Defender is not a factor either way... Yet.

Water Crossing with a Mechanical Fan?

The viscous clutch cools down and lets the fan slip pretty quick so as long as you are not entering water crossings pinging off the limiter it usually isn't an issue. If you are paranoid about it dump a few buckets of water on the rad and fan hub before a deep crossing.

First run for my trailer ! ...... We broke it ?

These springs seem to fail spectacularly after a higher than average load spike hit just the right way or not at all. Mine failed after hundreds of miles on a dirt road up to Labrador from Quebec. I had just pressure washed and inspected the suspension because I was worried about it and every...

iPad not receiving GPS like it should

No WIFI only ipads receive any gps signals. You can pair it with a gps receiver over bluetooth to make it work but you will need to buy another device. This lists the model numbers. If you don't have one of the WIFI + cellular models it won't receive gps singals without buying another piece of...

    Importing iOverlander GPX to Gaia

I would imagine it's a lost cause and Garmin probably has exclusive rights for that for some period of time with the Overlander.

First run for my trailer ! ...... We broke it ?

I'm not gonna lie. I went through the same mental process. I don't get it. I broke a leaf on a rental pop up camper just like that on a comically small pot hole at about 35MPH. There is no way I would build an adventure trailer with those.

iPad not receiving GPS like it should

If it is a WIFI only model it does not contain the ability to use gps. Only the models with cellular data capability have the guts inside to enable using it as a stand alone GPS. You don't need any data contract to use it for Gaia only that the gps chip exists on those models and not the WIFI...

    Next generation snatch block

Yeah in all seriousness most of my earlier doubts were unfounded I think now. I even got hands on with one that was dunked and coated with mud and grit repeatedly and used in the worse situations unlike the near lab conditions in all the vids and it still looked good and the soft shackle still...

    The OutFit - Unimog U1700L

Been watching on YT since the beginning. Nice to have you here. I remember the first episode I watched and I was like oh c'mon are they seriously just going to work out in the bush somewhere every video? Then in short time you became one of my favorite travel video channels! Was nervous about...

What happens when the biggest and baddest vehicle breaks down

Ouch. Doesn't look burnt up looks more like whatever spacer they used to go to singles just over leveraged the spindle and bent it right off...Or they hit a tope at full clip lol.

    Helper Airbags or something equivalent

https://photos.app.goo.gl/74emDsHt8Xus6GBe7 Yeah that's my vehicle they are in. I really like them and they work well. I have transferred them from the stock suspension to the lifted suspension I have after it sagged more then I was expecting. Very simple to install and adjust. Not as easy to...

    Temp Monitoring for Brakes/Bearings

You are better off figuring out how to measure brake application pressure/effort which might be as simple as figuring out the PID for that and displaying it on a phone or tablet. Literally no vehicle has brake temps but some commercial vehicles do have brake application pressure gages which is...
