just as a point of clarification, the D-IIs went to semi-float rear axle.

20 L. Scepter Military Fuel Cans MFC aka: 5 Gal capacity

I thought I had already listed these, as I got them from a fellow member in trade for a Discovery- don' ask ;-) They have a big advantage over the Wedco cans as these are NOT metal, and hence are nonexplosive. Anyway, I have about 75/ea in excellent condition, and have them on Ebay as well. Here...

New Rubicon or Sport and modify?

We have a JKU, and AEV lift. However, last week we rented a stock JK 2 door for a long w/e at Expo. My wife immediately ask why the rental rode so bad, and why the window crank hit right on her knee(we have the p/w). Also, at 6'3" I can certainly attest to the new dash as a huge improvement over...

Defender 110; vs Range Rover classic

Mark, I guess the ergonomics is more what I am referring as I fit much better in the H1. Noise, about the same, but the ride of the H1 was better to me. I drove mine to Az and up and down the east coast a bunch- it felt much less choppy. There are many arguments concerning 200/300, but the 300...

Defender 110; vs Range Rover classic

I have wheeled both, a lot, and there are many that prefer the RRC, especially the CT participants. The one advantage to the 110 for you would be conversion to your H-I motor keeping spares consistent, but Felix can adds that better as I have not owned such.

Defender 110; vs Range Rover classic

Eric, it depends if you want all the electric gismos like windows, s/r's, etc to contend with on the RRc and be extremely comfortable. Or pay 10x as much for leaks, drafts, insufficient heat and a/c not to mention total lack of ergonomics to have the rarity of a NAS 110. I have had both, but...

    Disco II tire question

I like a 3" front, 2" rear lift on a D-II which allows 255/85-16 like it was made for it. Check the sold page on my website for several trucks so fitted.

Hello, first post and advice needed on liveaboard overlander..

We once considered exactly what Ponyracer describes- a gooseneck with one of two options. A) Use a pop-up style removed from it's 'base(trailer/axle) and mount it on the top portion of the neck which reduces trailer length needed, or B)mount a typical truck camper with cabover section above the...

Pop top /elevating roof - anyone made their own??

I had bought a Flippac a few years ago, and had planned to incorporate it into a 110 top, but never had a spare to play with. Eventually sold the Flippac, but it really doesn't seem too difficult- just not sure if there was a market here due to the limited number of 110s. The nice thing is it...

    JKUR 3.5" Suspension

JFarris, look at your initial post/parameters, and try to find the best 'designed' suspension for those parameters. I believe the AEV will be best for what you are defining, with the possible addition of either air or hydraulic bumps IF you really want to do off road speed runs. Bear in mind...

The Official 2012 Overland Expo thread!!! Post your comments, questions, images...

Jess- we flew into Phx yesterday, and drove up via 17 to alt89 then up through Sedona, on to Flagstaff, and no issues. The fires are very visible just west of 17 which may impact your preferred route as I am not too familiar with the area. Can't wait to get over to Expo!!

Selling my Land Rover Defender 110 TDi

I jst emailed with Claus yesterday, and he has talked with customs who told him big troubles if he leaves without the 110. I wish he hadn't spoken with them, but too late. Anyway, he is communicating with LRNA which will be of no help based on previous conversations with them. Long story short...

'94 Land Rover Discovery Series I

A nice solid example of an early D-I. Heads done aprox. 20k miles ago, fresh injectors, all windows work, s/r's do not leak, but work intermittently, headliner redone with an epoxy textured product eliminating sagging issues forever. Recent tuneup, new fuel pump last year, recent tires- no lift...
