From your description the LMTV is aptly described as AWD then so it is not just cars and it uses rear wheels as primary drive (70/30 split in highway mode). BUTTT...... the clutches are inside a transfer case mated to the back of an Allison Tranny! It makes no difference if it is all inside...

Looked at this concpet of a unit for my cabin in the past. Those are suppose to be outdoor (aka vent to open atmosphere) only units. don't recall what original posters intentions are indoor or outdoor. How do you use yours? What did you do to vent it if indoors?
This is Jake. God rest his soul!! Best trail dog that ever existed. Would stay mostly beside my driver door as I creeped along trails in my TJ back in the days. This pic is at Bump Hump in Moab. Back then was a reporter for Rockcrawler(dot)com E magazine. Nice magazine but got sold to...
sweeeeeeeeeeeeet...... where is the money when I need/want it. LOVE old Nissan's. Had several Roadsters, 510's and 521's. Yet it was a Patrol dream that even got me into Datsun/Nissan in the first place.
The advantage of the winches was they had them permanently set up with switches in the cab. They could sinch it down without getting out. Not sure if they could reverse the cable back to normal lenght without getting out though. Might have to get thru the bad spot first then pull over and...
My concern would not so much so be "while traveling down the road" but in an accident, trail flop etc. In general though, still should be mentioned so user can become aware then decide on their own based on information. Besides 50/50; IMHO, that your going to catch on fire...... is not good...
Pictures still no worky. Maybe you need to change your settings for public viewing? Seen same issue from others using Google pics when posting at Pirate.
An old school KISS way rockcrawlers have prepped for such things is a small winch at each axle ends whose sole purpose was to compress down the suspension on the uphill side. Granted saw this done more for creasting steep rock faces to keep from flopping/EndO..ing backward but concpet applies...
NOT A GOOD IDEA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJMTQWWoMSw
Then there is off level heating wrong things in the tubes breaking down the coolant incorrectly which can also cause fires...... though there is a doo dad to help prevent that..More at...
An Ambulance body was recommended to me as a potential camper unit for my LMTV. I want something lower in height compared to the 7" tall military units AND have some Roll Over strength designed into them unlike other options.
Any recomendations on what to look for if I decide to go that...
Had an older J300? she got stolen about month after I got her. Still had orginal herculise? engine. Police didn't do shiat. That was back in early 90's. Boy was that too long ago. After that got a J3000 with a 455 olds in her. Sold that for a TJ in 97? when they came out. My Dad had a...
