HillBillyRV Build Thread - 87 Ford E350 Quadravan Pathfinder Conversion

Today I messed around a bit. First, I did a bunch of measuring and mocked up the final working height of the BMFIGT table to see how it felt. Glad I did that, because it was 46 inches off the floor (when emulating it's resting place in the back of the van). A bit too high for me at six-feet...

Good to know. I'll check them out today. I found these late last night and I'm liking the idea: Hard Anodized 8-inch stack Stainless 8-inch stack Each set has an 8-inch pot, an 8-inch pan, and a flat glass lid with a real handle. First time customers get 20% off on their first order direct...

Who has a Field Cooker Pro set (CS-600)? Do you like it? Seems like it's max dimensions are 11 X 6.5 inches. Can anyone confirm that? Also wondering if it's possible to purchase a second handle so that a fellow could use a pot and pan at once.

I'm still mulling over insulation options because I don't have a heated shop to work in. Gonna have to wait until spring unless I come up with some sort of buddy favor and find a heated shop.

I plan to use an 8-inch diameter pot or pan. Today I retested with an 8-inch cast iron pan in the unheated garage. Boiled 1 cup of water in 3 min. That works. So, wind shield is absolutely necessary and I might have a new plan for that. After spending three hours staring at the BMFIGT today I...

Concealed Carry - What Have You Got?

I have not been asked, but I intend to promptly inform any LEO I might come into contact with (for speeding tickets or any other incident) that I have a legally concealed weapon on my person if I do indeed have a weapon on me. Last person I want to surprise is an armed officer of the law.

Thanks. I couldn't get my Baja burner to boil water in 30º weather (no windscreen).....so I think I'll add an 8-inch wind screen on my IGT and try it again. Most likely I'll install one of my Partner stoves into the IGT. Still have to play with the Baja a bit, but I don't think it's going to be...

I had some time to kill this morning and performed a test of the Snow Peak Baja Burner after I changed it to use the iso canister right-side-up. I ran it at "full-bore" for 60 minutes. The good news is that it didn't explode. The bad news is that it won't boil water. Never exceeded 160ºF. It...

Nothing exciting today. Got tired of moving the chop saw around, so I’m finally going to finish the new bench (for chop saw and thickness planer). Ran dust collection ducting and did some electrical. At least it’s functional now, but there is at least a day more to go.

    The $3,000 Sportsmobile project

I sure like the look of those stock steel wheels on these vans (when they have some nice paint of powder coat on 'em). Good choice!

2-Door JK JeepKitchen - AT Chaser - Globetrotter - National Luna build thread

I've pulled all the gear from the Jeep to install in the van (build thread in my signature). Still early at this point, but the kitchen is about half-done. I'll keep track of that build like I did in this one.

Got the bolts worked out for the drawer side of the drawer slides. I'll post since it took 1 hour of screwing around at the hardware store to find something that would work. The slides call for #10 screws but I think they are a tad small for something this big. The channel in the IGT will let a...

I decided that the Baja burner is sorta silly in liquid mode. That flame is all the way on or all the way off. Some tinkering found that it seems to work fine in gas mode (canister right-side-up) but of course, SP has crap in the way under the stove so that you cannot hang the canister in gas...

Aluminum cuts great if you use a good, sharp (new) carbide blade. The trick is to lower the speed of the blade, cut slowly, and don't put much pressure on the saw. Let the blade do the work. My Festool saws have speed controls. Well, most of them do anyway. In this case, my chop saw does. The...

Thanks. You did mention the bottom clearance earlier in the thread but I missed it. Sorry about that. It will be pretty slick if you figure out how to run both burners with one hookup. I've decided that I'm not interested in using the Baja in liquid mode. Just doesn't work worth a crap IMO. So...

Lol. I had a pile of oak that's been sitting in there for 10 years or more. I went through the entire pile to find the straightest two. The IGT is much, much stronger than I expected it to be. I'm pretty sure that when the drawer slides are attached (and reinforce it) it will become...
