Well there are alot of great trips with mild water in the west. The green river nice particularly the 60 mile stretch called labrynth canyon. For a day trip in moab you can launch n moab at a place called canyonlands by night. The do river trips with a big jet boat but are happy to runa shuttle...
I have a bunch of boats so let me know a few things.
How tall are you?
what is your build sm, med, lrg?
what features are you looking for and what kind of water will you be paddling?
The norstar is not a boat you want to solo. Sure it can be done in a pinch but tandem sea kayaks are to big...
1) 18'5" is longer than recreational and shorter than expedition, what is the cargo volume like? Well the volume is good. Bow and stern hatches are large enough to carry all you small items like food, first aid, etc. Center hatch is for the bulky things like tents sleeping bags clothes etc...
Ok guys I am starting a process of cleaning out my over abundance of paddling equipment. First up is a Wilderness Systems Northstar tandem kayak. This boat is 18' long and has 3 hatches with a rudder. These boats are over $2000 new.
Poly constrution it is a "sunrise" color which is an orange...
crosslander is now Mahindra. THey wil be available next spring. 1 suv and 2 trucks. all will rin the same chassis and diesel engine configuration. Leafs out back torsion bars up front. Looking forward to getting up close and personal. Mike Lokey (outsidr) has a dealer ship for those here in...
wow it's an old Perception/Aquaterra Sealion kayak!!! Great kayak in it's day it was one of the top choices/ A few things to consider and look for. First see if you can test paddle it. If not atleast sit in it to make sure you can fit and be comfortable. That boat has a fairly generous cockpit...
Fiamma awning are ewasy to get. THe factory / distributor is about 45 minutes from me. They sell out of a factory and store and can ship just give them a call.
intersting story. It is the BFG tires that are always chunking out. both sets of my BFG muds have considerable chunks. I know atleast a dozen people running coopers and have never seen one with chunks out of it.
I have a gen 1 tacoma (96-04) with a 2.7 and love it. It is a good match for my truck even with the 33" tires, armour, and gear. However if I was out for a newer Gen 2 tacoma (05+), I would not buy the 4cyl. The little engine will just not handle the newer trucks added size and wieght when you...
Mike sent a rediculously long "story" to Scott with tons of pics and stuff but as far as I know nothing as happened. I assume the Expo journal truck buyilds and trips have limited Scott's time to get back to us.
Lockers are a great tool for navigating tuff trials but you are generally better served by having a winch if you are a beginner. My philosophy on that is lockers get you into trouble, and winches get you out of trouble. And geting out of trouble should be your first concern rather then your...
Ha a rack is a whole lot cheaper then a truck! if you can't afford to pay cash for it then don't do it. You have perfectly good platform in the cherokee. The 4.0 is a great motor and by adding a nice rack or cargo box to the roof you should be able to fit the family and all your gear in it.
I have beard seats and I really like them. I think they offer a reclining suspension seat now as well. DO a search for redart that is the parent company.
Well first off I have no direct experience with that kayak brand or model. I can however say that building a boat with both a rudder and a skeg is a disaster in my mind. First off skegs and rudders have advantages and disadvantages. Having both doubles you disadvantages but adds really nothing...
This is true with aftermarket Thule and yakima systems as well. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use bow and stern lines. I have had and seen quality racks and straps fail as well.
As far as upgradingas long as they are driving in normal conditions i.e. no baja racing with canoes on the roof. Then they...
