Extra Fuel - Anyone Done This?

LoL.. I sold the LC and tripled my range. At 12mpg average it wasnt hard to find a rig with 3x the stock setup range. ;-) loved that dino burner but it sucked gas pump hose on 200+ mile trips.

Why don't i see any Thule or Yakima boxes on Overland rigs?

Rei sale plus member kick back money. Sears sells the **** stuff with the cheap mounting hardware. Get a good one you'll have it a loooong time. Mine has out lasted our ownership of 5 vehicles, but the box still kicks ***. Well worth the money. The narrower box so you have half rack options is...

    2017 TACOMA $$$$$$$

If your not hauling family you care about. A truck that is just basic transportation, with near zero allocation to safety systems, comfort etc is great. But for those of us hauling family in a mode of transport with the highest risk to bodily injury, 40-50k for the latest saftey and best...

What north American builder can make this?

I think you can easily set up the 5cylinder 3.2L Transit Diesel for non US diesel challenges. Might be worth looking at. They sell 4x4 versions already dont they? That and the transit is nearly world wide platform too.

    A Hawk in the Arctic

FWC has panel foam between the aluminum framing. The Articpac on tge soft top section creates an air gap / insulation aspect that most report as being a big step forward on insulating and condensation aspects. The volume of air in a compact camper is small. Add sources of water vapor ie...

    A Hawk in the Arctic

FWC approach is actually brilliantly simple, smart from a production vs enviormental work space aspect, and the end product is pretty good. Get the composit smooth skinned option for a little better Rvalue. You want full on artic capability regardless of material used nothing beats insulation...

    A Hawk in the Arctic

Campers are all about labor cost today. Stick campers are just simple to build and really offer the lowest cost to make. That does not mean its light. The composit panel builds using aluminum framing and minimal plywood structure internally are more or less the hybrid approach to keep glass...

    A Hawk in the Arctic

Im speaking to composit panels. Not a camper, with lenolium flooring, various window products, appliances, heavy plywood lower structures etc. The campers your using as examples are big campers were weight is really secondary to accomidations ment to simulate a sticks and brick house. In the...

    A Hawk in the Arctic

With composits build experience for aircraft and boats. We avoid wood and epoxy because its heavy and costly. The better approach is simply creating glass structure via foam stringers. But!!! Labor is your largest cost to engineered composit builds. Example... A lear truck cap or glass shower...

Reducing the bulk - weekend camping

Weekend gear. I have packed my two kids and I in 40 minutes. Out the door gone no issues. When the wife goes its drama if god for bid some odd ball item some how gets left behind. Takes hours to pack... The biggest issue is what personality are you? The OMG the world is ending we are missing the...

How do you keep things in your cupboards?

Wedge it in. In the boat I've seen people put hooks inside the cabinets and use light stretchy bungies too.

Nice job Sounds like the poor truck caught the bulk of the damage.

Used 200-Series or Tundra or 4Runner or....?

The LC /LX seems to be tuned really mellow also. My 4.7L Sequoia has a far more aggressive factory tune than the V8 Landcruisers.

    2017 TACOMA $$$$$$$

Perk just know that all the toyota dealers around the bay area are owned by the same outfit in LA. Basically they set the prices and its rediculously high. After my last Toyota purchase adventure I bagged the idea of new or used via Yota dealers in the bayarea. As such I probably wont buy a...

Looking for input regarding a Lance 650 on a GMC Canyon Crew Cab Long Box

The canyon load rating is actually pretty high in terms of midsized trucks. Ford essentially upped the load capacity game on the light trucks by shedding weight using aluminum body work. The F150 packs a serious payload but its a big footprint, and lousy for busy CA big city use and parking.

Looking for input regarding a Lance 650 on a GMC Canyon Crew Cab Long Box

http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/154630-AT-Tacoma-Habitat-Official-Thread?highlight=Habitat&p=2172534#post2172534 ^ Gives you the option to go without the trailer, and have pretty decent camper options with out the weight penalty.

Looking for input regarding a Lance 650 on a GMC Canyon Crew Cab Long Box

Im in the Bay Area. The colorado/Canyon is if interest due to its narrower profile and tight parking also. We curently tow a 4x6 tent trailer. Our last few summers we found that setting up a base camp then doing 5-6 days exploring the area has been a great approach. Which is a better fit to the...

Used 200-Series or Tundra or 4Runner or....?

Keep in mind the GX is just a powder puff version of the 4runner. The wheel base length its width and height I passed given it would make for a twitchy tow rig. The wider and longer Sequoia/Tundra and/or wider LC are far far nicer regarding towing stability and passenger comfort. The Sequoia is...

Used 200-Series or Tundra or 4Runner or....?

If your setting up base camp via trailer. I think the 4dr Tundra used with cap gives a nice value plus a gear garage for bikes etc. The difference between 07 Tundra and a new one is so small I wouldnt buy new. Just know they suck gas. A GM truck will return better mileage if that matters. I sold...
