Keep the truck flip down sides. Then work a fold out deck with them.. Interesting build. This sort of rig wont be a trail crawler, so the twist factor shouldnt be too extreme.
Agreed
I was just in Ann Arbor for a family thing. Wifes side. The rust on vehicles only a few yrs old was impressive. As a west coast guy 100% our coastal rust is nothing in comparison to the road salt mess in the east.
My little 15inch LCD tv is actually 12volts but has a box on the cord to step it down from 110. I've been wanting to try setting it up for a direct 12volt plug vs running through the inverter which is really inefficient.
Just a general device thought.
Simply sharing my 25yrs of shore power experience from the sailboat world. The good units do quite a bit of battery health via logic in the unit. I havent encountered one yet that doesnt get cranky and unhappy when other power sources start dumping power into the house batteries. This was...
I put the Patriot in the same light SUVish ability as Subaru wagons and Rav4s before Toyota botched the RAV. Except the Patriot as you pointed out is cheap, and cheap for many reasons. But if it works for you thats OK
But that doesnt mean its a good vehicle. Lol. Lots if people liked the Aztec too.
Most will tolerate power coming in from another source, but they typically dont like it. If watch them close you'll see they do some goofy modes when they detect other power sources.
Check out the Marine shore power options. Same kind of amps in vs needed numbers. I replaced our 10amp shore power / charger on my 28ft Sail boat last yr with a 12 amp unit. Simply given prices had come down. I recall it was like $180. They typically last 5-6yrs. Though mine is always plugged in...
Wow nice set up!
The st cab little ranger has a special place in the great trucks list. I had a 89 but it was a short bed 2.9L v6. Sold it with 190,000 miles on it. Should have kept it.
Weight vs small rubber is a bad sand combo. Dodge trucks on stock tires are famous for being sand anchors.
Subarus are light, and stability control turned off via a dash switch results in pretty good sand performance in stock form. Hell even stock Legacys can be found tearing up dunes on...
23amps is really small, you can only figure about 30-40% max of your rated amps given batteries cant be run empty. 50% is more or less dead battery with typical deep cycle batteries.
Most folks report using 75ish amp batteries with 40-80 watt panels and report success being off grid for a week...
If a glass structure has a core in it. Drill a larger hole than needed. Put epoxy in it. Let it cure then redrill the hole to the right size. This keeps the core material sealed and protects it against water intrusion if your sealer fails.
Probably the largest issue is just structural strength...
