    Question for you Subaru owners

The 3.6 is a great engine. Currently the oldest design in the line up. I'm on my second 2.5 EJ. I found with all my towing and Sierras and western states adventures that the 2.5 got it done and the rest of everyday life it was great. The 3.6 owners I've compared notes with over the years share...

Stolen Rooftop Tent - Keep your eyes out please

Loosing my trailer is such a big worry. We had a family friend loose a 30ft heavily loaded trailer last yr. Poof gone never found. So our little trailer are no contest for trailer theives. I never leave mine out its either stashed in the garage or hidden behind my side yard fence. I try not to...

need to buy a family camping vehicle - Sequoia? F150? Land Cruiser?

I like our Sequoia but 99.9% of the time we use our subaru. 4yr old + 7yr old and a 65lb Doberman. It only works given our camping rig and gear goes on the 4x6 trailer we tow. Subaru is just more enjoyable to drive. And it typically gets 20-21mpg on our trips. The Sequoia is 15mpg on our one or...

SnowTaco - 2016 Tacoma Build / Travel Thread

Yup I like the Tacomas but the seat comfort makes it a no go if the wife nixes it. Curious what your top MT must ride trails are. I was out of the loop for a few yrs. Little kids but starting to get back to it again. Itching to ride....

1999 Defender 110 Td5 LHD Many Upgrades. Titled in California.

Even if its some how legal. Dont get tagged by a texting Nanny driving a Mini Van. All bets are off when the insurance companies figure out what you were in. Self insured, and have a umbrella policy for personal injury coverage. Or you could be up crap creek with out a paddle or defibulator.

Best coating for exposed plywood? Bed Liner? Full sun/heat exposure in a hot climate

I think any of the tough coatings with some pre sealing will result in a pretty durable long lasting effect. I wonder if the bed liner type stuff can go over ply sealed with thin expoxy sealer? That would be an interesting combo.

Need help on 05 Sequoia - Limited air suspension failing - bought LC 100 springs

Just looked I suspect the Sequoia set up is shorter beefier spring also. My LC springs seemed much longer and for sure were not as beefy lower load rating etc.

Need help on 05 Sequoia - Limited air suspension failing - bought LC 100 springs

I had an LC and own a 06 sequoia today. Why not just put Sequoia springs on? Pretty sure the LC springs are too light. Sequoias came with standard suspension. Mine handles loads pretty well takes a pretty heavy load to start the rear sag on the standard springs.

    Question for you Subaru owners

The legacy / ob up to 09 had a tight rear seat. Thats the primary reason we sold our 01 and got the completely reworked 2010. Huge difference in seating space, that and dramatically better air flow for cooling, and better exhaust etc. Cvt is fantastic by far single best improvement to the old...

    Question for you Subaru owners

The 2L is my big gripe in the xv. It needs 170-180hp. I talked with one xv owner dragging a 1000lb home built rig around. Pavement it does ok but steep climbs he said it can be a really slow grind. Kids and Dogs? The rear seat in the Legacy/OB 2010 and newer are massive and I swear they...

    Question for you Subaru owners

If I were my young Single no kids version of my self today? Living big city with tight to zero parking and big into camping and adventure sports I'd go Outback, for load capacity and easy parking daily life stuff. If I were super ultra major camping road tripping and have a really strong...

    Question for you Subaru owners

2010 OB which has been our go to camping rig as was our 01 Legacy. Even though we've had a cherry 93 Land Cruiser and today a 06 1\2 Sequoia with 78,000 on the clock we always opt for the OB. Two kids, bikes, 4x6 Life time tent trailer. The OB just eats up the pavement miles. Rear seat is big...

Just Starting Out - Gear and Activity Review

Keeping mom happy is key! Hot showers, sources of heat in cool temps. Good wine, good food and keeping the packing and unpacking away from her will go.a long long way!! Kids have a blast especially given they get lots of attention and time with parents on camping trips. So they are less of a...

Attack of the new mini vans

A good friend bought one of the first ones to arrive. Back in January. Theirs is set up as a simple mini van ish which he uses as his regatta wagon hauling his 20ft racing sailboat. If it holds up hes thinking some camper van mods could be in the future. He likes it. Load capacity is nuts thats...

Attack of the new mini vans

The new Connect is a pretty nice size. Compact but roomy. Looks pretty good too. I'd love to see Ford make a awd version targeting Subaru owners that have a growing family. Awd 7-8 inch clearance etc. That would be interesting.

Help me build my solar system!

Could be ok but my house system only is 8,260 watts. But it supports filtering a 60,000 gallon pool 9-7pm and a 2800sqft house with a 7kwh plugin hybrid just fine. ;-)

Fitting an 18' canoe on a jet ski trailer

Been doing boat ramp dumps for god knows how long. About every 8-10 yrs I would simply replace the flexible mount. The flexible mounts are designed to flex so the plate doesnt. Never had any issues. The dime a dozen pwc trailers are hard to ignore for custom projects! I plan on building a light...
