Looking to join the Excursion Club

Hold out for a 7.3. The 6.0 is a good motor if all is done right but still not as reliable, that one has been tuned, and not as good resale.

need ideas for closing in the bottom of camper for a flatbed

Wow, they have some really cool stuff. That is going in the flatbed porn folder.

need ideas for closing in the bottom of camper for a flatbed

I have boxes and some open space behind them. I really like having an outside space for propane, fuel, firewood, trash, etc.. In one box I have a battery, Puma Air, small inverter, and all my chargers. The other box has a water pump, propane water heater, basically a water closet when camping...

An interesting concept to improve your roof top tent.

He maybe on to something with this concept. A hitch mounted foldaway tent is a good idea. Many advantages over roof mount.

HOLY CRAPOLY! Badlands 12000lb Winch on Sale for $290 !!!

I have one, came on the truck. I have never used it to do any real heavy lifting but seems to do just fine. No overheating problems but I never run it continuously, just in bursts. The engage lever sticks sometimes but not too bad.

    Nice 7.3 Excursion.

These engines come stock tuned way down. Deleting things from the engine can give you better mpg, power, etc. for example, the heater plug is only used when it is -20f. The plug warms the air for the turbo but also disrupts its, if you are not in -20 degree weather , you don't need it...

    Nice 7.3 Excursion.

I assume Javier does all the 4x4 vans I see on CL around here. Looks like a similar setup to his vans but the wording of the ad seems like a private party and the upgrades are all the right ones. Maybe started as a Javier? What have you heard about his vans? I'm curious because they look...

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

6bt Ex would be pretty insane! That's why I posted the one, even at asking its a good deal with all those upgrades.

    Nice 7.3 Excursion.

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

10,100lbs is my guess. My f350 crewcab with a 7ft steel flatbed comes in at 8600lbs unloaded. Per the 7.3 cost discussion on the used market... there is a place here in San Diego that always has a few Ex and other 7.3 trucks. I tried to buy one from them but they are super proud of...

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

I have been thinking of doing something with one of these for easier access. .....https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aww-500931/overview/. Like the idea of removing keyed access. I have not actually put a key into a car door for many years. You can stick these anywhere as well, just need...

Newbie Question - 99 F-350 7.3 (DRW) as overland platform

The dual rears can grab large rocks and the extra wide stance can be a problem on narrow roads with trees or drop offs. Also, thats two more tires to go flat and worse mpg. Its a great truck though and probably worth a rear axel swap. 144k is really just getting broken in and you be hard...

Tundra vs 5.9 Cummins - Help!

Do you pass people or get passed? Can you do your own work? If not, learn how to. Diesels can be expensive to work on but a good professional diagnostic and a youtube video can save you a lot in labor. Go with the dodge, beef up the suspension, throw on a dash mat and be done. The dodge...

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

I highly recomend the php hydra tuner, best $350 you can spend. (would be even cooler if you worked with them to create an over landing tune package). You can load it up with whatever tunes suit you and the tunes run cooler EGTs. There is a fuel sipping setting. The 80hp tow tune works great...

Am I crazy for considering a black colored vehicle?

Had to work on my truck in the blazing sun on the last trip. The black trim had to be covered, it would burn me otherwise. Leaning on the white was fine, just a little warm. My old black suv could not be touched if parked in the sun, current white truck is never a problem. Something to...

1995 7.3 Powerstroke Turbo Diesel Ford E-350 Cargo, converted to overlanding / camper

Sweet rig. Anybody considering this van should not be afraid of those items mentioned. The mechanic is just mentioning known long term issues with the 7.3, not even sure they apply to the E series. The valve cover gasket is literally know as the .25 cent fix. Injectors can go much longer...

Ideas for compact sink/shower/hot water system

Zoom in and you can see my set up. Instant propane water heater, water pump, bbq propane tank(easier to exchange than to fiil onboard propane), and a couple water jugs to haul and store water. If you use quick connects, set up takes just a couple minutes. I use soap that is biodegradable...

    Camper and Truck Photos

Awesome build. I had a 1984 bronco and it was a great truck. After seeing this I wish I kept it.
