Yes you can, but your missing the part about rebuilding the inner axle seals, and a few other things and the 13mpg. Been there done that loved the truck my wallet not so much. And it was my 3rd car not my budget only car ;-)
Composit test panels typically have very similar weight ratio to Aluminum. Engineered composit structures are rare to see in RVs because of the labor cost to lay them up, vs chopper gun resin mixed with chopped glass mat sprayed into a mold. Typical rv fiberglass products are simply chopper gun...
If it helps any my huge home system is limited to no more than 16 panels / micro inverters on a single 12 guage harness. My panels are 285 watt panels.
Core materials used in composite builds are typically foam, balsa and cheap builds wood of some type. The term "composite" in terms of resin structures refers to engineered structure using multiple material types glass, carbon / resin and core materials.
A shell over a shell is really no...
Agreed. My dads 99 exploder is pushing 260,000 miles everything about it is flat worn out. Still runs but its the local around town only set of wheels. At 150,000 miles it was doing back country camping trips with no worries. Today at 260,000 we hold our breath every time we go up a hill knowing...
Lol you ever hear two half deaf people arguing and realize they are arguing two different issues?
First any "composite" built structure you must avoid getting water into the sandwhich structural material. In the sailboat world where we have built "composite" structures since glass construction...
I was thinking $5000 basically anything that runs and well cared for. Used car prices are crazy high these days 5k doesnt get you much. And the expo thing seems to trend high in gear costs. 5k budget and $50 walmart tent is poor college kid wanting some summer camping ability budget. Which case...
The G80 seems to be respected by many and hated by a few in my readings. You can find youtube videos of "hey hold my beer" moments all day long of people doing totally nutz stuff to those trucks just destroying the whole truck. But if they only bend or shatter some driveline gear or suspension...
Same here. Hows the 4dr midsize vs kids seating space? Thats my one worry if I switch to a 4dr midsize truck. A flipac type approach paired with our tent trailer would be an interesting option. Full family mode or dads escape pod. LOL
A flat bed FWC would be killer but thats a big investment...
I have a yakima box similar build style. Its a 2004 model. I always try to mount it with as much bar spread as possible and as little over hang with packed weight heavy stuff center vs the ends. Its held up with all our abuse. Just keep in mind its really easy to over load the jumbo boxes...
I read an interesting write up diesel mag I think. It was a break down of the GM 2.8 but what was interesting was the GM engineers comment about system tolerance to what he described as a wide range of diesel quality found in the US. He said they know that diesel quality can vary by quite a bit...
Yes heat dramatically impacts the performance. My other solar project was just finished Thursday. 29 285watt LG panels each with an enphase inverter. All tied to the house and a envoy system hub that will let me view each panel output. Very cool system!!! Just need the final building inspection...
This would be a great idea

100watt would for sure do it. You would have more power than you would know what to do with.
