Renogy just sent some owners a note that the flexible panels might develop a crack which heats up then causes cell failure. I know a few expo folks have said that their 80watt hard panel easily keeps their fridge and battery topped up nice. 60watt is cutting it close and the flexy panels are a...
HG job is super simple on the 2.5. For a few reasons. Super simple engine. Very strong compact heads that rarely ever need to be replaced. Only heads that get replaced are the cars driven till meltdown temps. Which case typically after a head gasket job a lower bearing lets go due to being...
Sounds like flippac and maybe one or two others are finally getting into the game of well made flip / pop top light shells. The concept is a great one, light simple, affordable and something that retains the truck bed for typical truck uses. Given the huge sales numbers the past two yrs for...
I will say the Legacy/outback in 2010 got a very very much needed bump in cooling capacity. The older wedge design didnt do wonders for air flow. Hot trips I watched running temps like a hawk. Never had any issues but there were plenty of slow it down run the heater to head off a temp spike. The...
We bought a 93 LandCruiser because it fit in standard length 180ish inch curb spots between driveways. We still have the SF place but now I have a 07 Sequoia and those few extra inches SUCK!!!! when SF parking. Which is why the Subaru was being used to haul away renovation stuff during projects. LOL
Had a similar experience with a Subaru. After nearly tearing the whole car appart we found a bulb in a marker where the filament was tangled up and would short the fuse. Replaced the bulb and we were back in business. An idea to eye ball things worth a look. Hope it turns out to be a simple...
Great thread on this exact thing on the wanderwest forums under "Avoiding weight fees in CA registrations" from the sound of it on that thread you want a RV registration even if its a standard pickup, if you plan on keeping the camper box on full time its easy to get the RV reg, and far far...
In box on front trailer plate.
Led strip sewn into the privacy flap in the tent. Switch is down at the bottom all of it sewn in.
I used small water resistant automotive style two prong connectors. I simply plug them into the power feed from the box when we set up. I dont leave the box lid...

Rumblings that our predicted 2yrs of cheap gas prices may end sooner, but thats all hinged on Geo Politics which can never be predicted. The fuel efficient RV type options always seem to survive during hard times on the big heavy RV biz. The downer being profits are far far less on the smaller...
Same here but the Diesel Canyon will likely replace our OB in a couple of yrs. I want a little more load capability when the kids get older and we do more MTB trips with more big boy bikes. ;-)
I think the Aluminum build is a big step in the right direction. Fabbed aluminum carrys the same weight and strength properties to engineered cored composits. The old chopper gun glass built caps lacked that engineered strength and were heavy two negatives when it comes to this crowd. I wish...
The original Lifetime Tent Trailer and the 2010 2.5 Limited camping rig for 4.
No bikes on the roof we run 21mpg ish averages at 65-70mph. With bikes on the lid in fork mounts we typically do 18mpg.
We were packing lots of extras on this trip for some rookie campers borrowing gear.
Pay close attention to load ratings the Forester shares the same load limitations as the Impreza which may be way to light if your really into gear and extended trips. The OB/Legacy has a higher load rating but when your packed with extended trip gear your still easily pushing its load rating. I...
The bar height limited space between roof and bar has been my only big complaint with the stock rack. Guessing 5mpg hit to the 65+mph average? That seems my typical mpg hit with bulky stuff on the lid. 60mph and under the mpg hit really drops off and is harder to track.
