I’m in a Ford Transit so I vented out the side wall behind the body moulding, behind/after the sliding door (the toilet is next to the passenger side wall, mounted on drawer slides).
No smell really, although I’ve noticed an unpleasant whiff a couple of times, immediately after doing the deed...
It’s not all bad - and with a bit of wiring and an additional pump in the engine loop to circulate coolant to pre-heat the engine (if that’s important for you to maintain) you solve your issues.

Have you considered isolating both circuits and using a plate heat exchanger between the two loops?
This is how I have my DIY install setup and it allows using engine heat to heat the cabin/hot water. Engine coolant is circulated by the engine side.
It would require a second pump placed in...
Great summary!
Allow me to add a little bit based on our experience with a Nature’s Head - we used ours for the first year or two, mostly weekends and three or four extended (3-6 weeks) a year without using the fan. When we moved to our van full time, we connected the fan and vented it outside...
That’s awesome - thanks for sharing!
A couple of questions, if you don’t mind -
Have you heard of the Stainless Lobster? It’s a controller that was developed in the cruiser community as a start-up and that was purchased by another company, that now seems to have discontinued it. It also seems...
It’s probably very close to six of one, a half a dozen of the other.
Here’s why I like the external GPS receiver even though I chose a cellular iPad:
First and foremost, I can position the GPS receiver to get the best reception possible. You could even get an external antenna. We’re in a van...
Doesn’t sound like you need the Pro for your use.
You also don’t need a LTE/cellular model. You could use a WiFi only model but will need a separate, external GPS receiver.
If you are going to use the iPad on a paddling or backpacking trip, that might be inconvenient but if it’s for vehicle...
Factory 2WD with a Van Compass lift, Bilstein up front, Fox at the rear and Agile custom leaf springs instead of VC add a leaf.
For V2 we will get an AWD but to be honest, there are very few times we couldn’t get where we wanted to including some pretty gnarly Baja tracks or Titus Canyon in...
That was not raised when I chatted with iOverlander - the challenge seemed more of a maintenue issue.
The Garmin deal does provide some revenue and I’d imagine if there was enough interest, licensing the data to Gaia could also be a revenue source - but that depends on Gaia seeing value in it...
I have reached out to the Gaia and iOverlander team to ask them to facilitate the creation of a layer in Gaia with the iOverlander data.
Gaia hasn’t moved, likely because their isn’t enough interest and iOverlander we’re going to discuss it internally.
Maybe if others express interest in...
I’ve been looking for the same for months without any success - I guess it’s just too early still.
That said, I discovered I can charge (charge only, not power in use - so battery power still decreases when plugged in) both my newer MacBook Pro and iPad Pro using a USB-C to USB-C cable plugged...
I’m considering the same decision and visited Foes on the way back from Baja in January. I’m leaning towards the Foes kit because of the design which includes a new suspension arm that seems to keep the geometry better.
The install for the Foes kit seems simpler, faster which means money if you...
