Yet another 3rd Gen Montero "Build", also story time!

Funny, I was just looking into this for an unrelated reason, but here's some info I found if it can help: Info on the MDP sensor (also called the MAP sensor) can be found in the 2003 FSM in section 13Ac-557 and following. The p1400 code means the sensor is reading pressures much too low or high...

Engine running hot (2001 Gen 3 Limited)

Sorry to hijack, but quick question related to cooling system: Does anyone know if the Gen3 have a brass/copper radiator like the previous generations of Monteros, or is it now aluminum from the factory? The one in my '03 is aluminum with a plastic top, and has "Toyo Radiator, Made in Japan" on...

Nnamssorxela's '03 Montero: Daily Driver and Adventure Mobile

Thanks for the up-close pictures of the snorkel fitment. What does the plastic feel like? Could it take a whack from a tree limb? I've got this picture in my head of one of my kids' wiffle ball bats with a ram intake stuck on top whenever I look at the ebay offerings. Since adding a snorkel is...

    2001-2006 Montero/Pajero - LRA Auxilary Fuel Tank 58L - 15.3 Gallon - Portland,OR

Just saw this JnP. Yeah, they definitely love their Montero. God forbid I pop the hood, for they all teleport into the thing as if it were a magical spaceship or something. Makes for slooooooooooooooooow, but happy work.

How do you ensure that you end up with two black and two grey if they have the same part number?

Wondering if there are any get togethers near va?

Hey Charlie. My wife and I just put in applications to teach at the Expo this year, and if we get accepted we'd love to meet up somewhere down by Asheville in the lead up to the event. I'd be looking forward to seeing your Gen 2 up close...especially those DIY mods you've been cooking up for it...

Wondering if there are any get togethers near va?

I'm down for a meetup Tundraguy81. Bring your family and something to bbq (or drink) and we can meetup in Mechanicsville...you can help me diagnose me electrical gremlins while the wives talk and the kids play. Heck, we might even install my OME stuff that's just sitting around. Big weekend...

    Gen 3 Roof Rack Options

We have been using Rhino-Rack's Large Steel Mesh Platform mounted directly to the factory rails with u-bolts. It's very similar to Outdooraholic's tray. Provides tons of tie down points, hold plenty of weight, and is very low profile when not loaded.

COOPER DISCOVERER: Middle-earth by Montero...with Four Kids

That's great to hear. This is a great time of year to go. What part of VA are you in? Looking at your pictures with the kids in the Monty makes me long for the day that mine are finally out of their accursed car seats...them things just take up so much room! x2 on the good looking truck. We...

Replacing Front Wheel Bearings on Gen III

Sabre, I always enjoy reading anything you post. This will make some of my Springtime pm projects that much easier...especially the tapered joint removal tip. Thank you very much.

How is the idle controlled on a 2003+ (3.8L) Gen3 Monty?

Hi Van. Replacing the MAF Sensor solved Fernandez' issue. I haven't had the time to deal with it...just learned to cope. I did pick up a junkyard maf sensor...but it turned out to be the wrong one (for a 3.0L Montero Sport rather than a 3.5L...the 3.5L Montero Sport and 3.5/3.8L Montero MAF...

Rocky Road Outfitters - How long did you wait for your shipment?

They're easy to find on Facebook or Google and very responsive to questions. Regarding the Gen3 they told me in a recent email that skids and sliders were on the way: John, Thanks for the support! it's appreciated. The Gen 3 parts are slowly working their way through R&D, I'm pleased to say...

    99-06 Montero Quetions

Jeep-N-Montero, you are my hero. Thank you for smacking me in the back of the head like this a year ago when I was asking lazy questions. Me and my Montero are the better for it.

So is the gen III really that good

1morebike, try searching "pajero" or "shogun" instead of Montero. It'll open up your search to the larger international Montero market and you'll see the common annoyances. PLH, totally agree that when it comes to value for the money it's Montero all day over the Land Cruiser's current market...

So is the gen III really that good

All Gen3 gremlins... The 6G72 and 6G75s in the Gen3s leak oil from everywhere by the time/mileage you'll be buying them used...unless the previous owner was an incarnate angel and replaced all the seals before selling. The transfer case solenoids and switches like to go bad and blink all over...

    Miles to empty display

Haha...I hate that blasted thing. It's a damned false prophet, always getting my hopes up that this tank will be different than all the last. My ogre will barely get above 300 miles before I panic and rush to a filler station. But that is due to the cluster's gas gauge only working when it wants...

    Exploring New Hampshire's Fall Crawl

I love seeing reports from New England this time of year. Has me looking forward to 2017...hoping to venture up there for a trip with the kids and see a section of the country we've never seen. Thanks for the pictures and report, Lumpskie.

Gen III Super Select Blinky Lights: A New Twist

De nada, amigo! Mine was the freewheel clutch solenoid too, but code 34 more specifically. I got the Mitsu oem part, but ran into a lot of confusion and unanswered questions when searching out the part since it appears to be the same part on several different Mitsu's with different part numbers...
