I hear you, there are a few programs that I use that require a PC. You can also run ArcGIS on a Mac now. Now that they use a USB dongle I can do everything on one computer.
I will say it is weird to get the "blue screen of death" on a mac.
I am a fan of Ozi, but I actually have...
For what it is worth, all of the vehicles that I have used in Tibet have been gas. That goes for the 2-ton support vehicles too. I have never seen a diesel there, granted I haven't searched them out either. It just seems to be what those folks use there.
We start at about 12K in elevation...
FYI Cody,
My 33" spare wiggles and vibrates a bit. With your big tires, I suspect it will wiggle much more.
Be sure that the tire carrier doodad is not too close to the rear hatch once it is bolted to the swing arm.
You should gusset it more.
I don't know if anyone has posted about this, but there is a relatively new OSX native GPS navigation software out.
http://www.routebuddy.com
I haven't used it or bought it yet, but from what I gather they are quite serious about developing a Apple OSX based navigation program. They seem to...
I got a first hand look at Mr. Baggin's trailer yesterday.
Poor Alvin was working, but every other step was some poor excuse for a jig or some other unrhythmic dance. :)
He was so excited I am surprised he hadn't wet himself by the time I dropped by. :xxrotflma:
All my racks are Yakima and most are over 15 years old. I have no clue what their designation is, but it is a gutter mount.
I am now in the market for a cargo box. A quick couple of questions.
What are the various experiences with the different cargo boxes? Pros/Cons
Is it true I would...
For what it is worth, I have 100's of field days and a couple thousand miles using my old G3 bronze powerbook out in the field.
Right now it needs an new battery, but otherwise it doing great. Even the screen hinge is intact and is happy after all those washboard roads.
Eventually I am...
Yes, MacGPSPro doesn't work with every mfg. It originally only worked with Garmins and has slowly incorporated other mfgs, but this is spotty. Which Garmin unit are you planning to use? They have a page of compatible units.
Ross
DR, you are partly incorrect on MacGPSPro. While you cannot download maps to a Garmin unit with MacGPSPro (you can only do this with Garmin software even w/ a PC), you can upload and download waypoints, routes as well as satellite constellation data. It is very easy to work with and very...
I think that I have to agree with Flounder on this. I really don't see why ripstop nylon is getting such a bad rap. There is no reason a well designed, durable RTT cannot be made with lighter materials IMHO. I will say that I have no personal experience with any RTT, just what I have seen in...
I too was surprised and happy on this latest trip. The thing that stood out in my mind was the now closed Lion's Back. You could no longer see the tire marks. It has been closed to vehicle traffic for less than six months.
I will say that the majority of the ATV/dirt bikes that I saw stayed...
Just sort of an FYI, but the more full you keep your fridge, the less energy it will use to maintain temp. Use filler stuff like water in plastic containers or whatnot to help buffer things in the fridge and keep it tightly packed.
:hehe:
The meth cookers I met were in the San Pedro Valley. I assume they were cookers based on teeth condition and twitchyness. They were awfully jumpy.
I don't carry. I have no problem with those that do, though I admit that I get uncomfortable around strangers that are openly carrying.
I work as a field geologist in AZ. I work alone and often near the border. I have encountered meth labs and cooks, pot farms, angry ranchers, visitors from...
How do you feel about sulfur credits? From what I understand it has been very successful in reducing acid rain in the NE. What the credits can do if managed correctly is ease the burden of technology shifts in the private sector while realizing a common goal, reducing emissions.
It has worked pretty good with sulfur emissions in power plants to fight acid rain in the NE. I am far from an expert, but it is a market based method to achieve long range reduction in pollutants. The key is how the overall cap is managed and the program for overall reductions of the cap over...
:iagree:
That is what makes it such a great question on both the personal level and on the sponsorship/professional level .
Are you in the 99% or 1%? :)
Me, I'd like to think I try my best on these issues but often fall into your 99%.
