Have you thought of maybe using a swivel style faucet like a restaurant uses for dishes? Would probably fit in that spot nicely but allow the door to close. Could even work as a shower too. Just a thought
Here's a pic of the froli travel san's the topper we used. The froli is 1 3/8 high and the topper 3 so the extra 3/8 height gets squished down easily when you fold the walls down. Thats a reflective tarp we use to reflect a little heat up towards the mattress
Don't wanna hi-jack your thread but we went through the moisture under the mattress game too, it was causing mold to form under the mattress over time...no bueno!
The fix is a thing called "FROLI" not only did it fix the moisture build-up but it keeps the mattress off the cold wood floor. But...
Thanks! I've done a lot of other little things since creating that thread but have been lazy about updating it, I do need to make that happen someday!
I don't know if the places I added the strong ties really apply to your camper since it's a flat bed with side walls going straight up. By...
I have my slide in bolted through the floor as well with 1/2 grade 8 bolts because turnbuckles would block the doors, the utilty box is less than 1/2 inch of clearance on the walls so it fits very snug and butts against 3 walls fore & aft. One other thing you might consider is reinforcing some...
Nice work, the devil is in the details and you're really getting it dialed in. I imagine the floor fasteners are extra critical on your layout since they're the only thing holding it to the truck unlike a slide in where it's surrounded by the bed to mitigate any movement. Good call on ditching...
I carry a gas saw on all travels, I had a stihl, it got stolen in my last rig so I replaced it with a 14" echo (home depot) for about 200 bucks. It starts more reliably than the stihl honestly and always runs great at any temp or altitude. Like someone else said you can use motor oil for the bar...
Yes its an improvement for sure over the previous mattress and we don't worry about mold anymore. The gel material of the mattress is quite a bit firmer when it's Really cold at first but seems to soften up from body heat. Go for it!
We have a bit of a higher gap between the cab and camper after the utility bed mod but it doesn’t bother me. It makes a good place to store traction boards on a short roof rack ?
I ordered the froli “travel “ queen size which is the thinnest height they make. I do think it’s more comfortable but then again it wasn’t brand new when I got it and my rig is a 2000 so who knows if it was even original.
On the subject of wet mattresses I recently discovered a product for use under mattresses in campers, boats and any high condemnation environment called Froli. We surprisingly discovered mildew forming on our foam mattress on the bottom under the cover so we got a thinner 3’ foam topper and the...
