Personally my chainsaw and shovel are among the only things in my kit that get used nearly every time I'm out. I haven't paid for firewood in years because of the saw and I don't camp near toilets or carry one so.... I do have a small hatchet for splitting or making kindling though
Here's a shot of the first drawer installed above an unmodified drawer for comparison.
Here's a shot both drawers installed along with the aluminum trim.
I'm sure it's not everyones cup of tea but I dig it and am excited to try it on more cabinets!
Itching to see what this would look like in the camper I went ahead and took on the drawers first since they were starting to look especially beat. I picked up some cheap pine from the local hardware store and some aluminum moulding to experiment with.
This is the result I got after my first...
We've been itching to do something different with the interior for awhile as it's looking a little long in the tooth and the wood paneling is cracking and chipping off in high use places as the glue gets old, especially cabinet face corners. Not wanted to make a hasty decision on the direction...
Couldn't you just Fab up a bracket to make the FWC type jack work with the Alaskan type?, I wouldn't be surprised if somebody even makes em.
If you were closer I'd loan mine...I do like beer!
Great looking rig, I have an 8' cabover on a modified utility bed and must say I'd love a side entrance. I haul a moto on the back of mine and this would allow me to keep the bike high and tight instead of leaving room to get in the back door. Brian is great to work with and has always had time...
Piece of cake, I have the bike carrier on a hitch extension that raises it up 4 inches and back about 8. I adapted this aluminum "deck" that also has a fold down step. with our dogs we usually put up a folding ramp for them to get in and out.
Cool pics and report, my lady and I just went through Southern Utah after Christmas as well returning to Cali after spending the holiday with family in Santa Fe NM. One could spend a lifetime trying to see it all!
Excellent photos, southern Utah really is amazing. My lady, dog and I did a few of the places on your route after spending Xmas in Santa Fe NM traveling back to California. We found zero need to visit the overcrowded, anti-dog National Parks as there is sooo much off the beaten path to explore...
I used to but never ever needed it. I’ve been stuck a few times but my winch got me out of those jams and my integrated jack stand /bottle jack and or shovel has done the trick every other time. Not saying they aren’t handy in the right situation but I found it to be dead weight with the way I...
Are the rear sections that hang down at the back of your camper just storage boxes? If so would it possible to cut em off and patch it up so you could push the camper forward? I would think that'd get your COG in a more favorable spot and tidy things up quite a bit. Or vice versa with the ute bed
Hey Chorky, Thanks for the kind words! I had to scour CL for awhile before finding one that fit the bill, but the main thing to look for is the bed height not being higher than the stock beds, otherwise it would require an overly tall platform in the bed for the camper to clear the top of the...
