I got a 3 inch high memory foam topper from Costco and the Froli travel model installed last night and it is a night and day difference in comfort the top closes fine. If you’re Alaskan mattress is no higher than 4.5 inches that combo should work. We’re headed out to the boonies for some cold...
Well in anticipation of installing a Froli travel system under our bed we picked up a 3 inch memory foam topper to replace the 4.5 inch mattress so the overall height of the bed is within the needed limits for the sides to fold down. Anyway when we pulled the bed and removed the factory cover...
Thanks Romero,
That answers my question, we have an Ikea mattress in ours which is just short enough for the side walls to fold down so I think a thinner mattress would be the ticket to make the Froli work. We are far from in love with the Ikea mattress anyways so this makes a good excuse to...
Curious about the Froli System, Did the added mattress height make the pop-up FWC any harder to close? I have an Alaskan and the mattress doesn't get wet but leaves a bit to be desired in the comfort dept. Thanks!
My old 91 obs ford runs bfg atko2 285/75 -16 (33 inch) and the full size spare fits stock location. I haul a moto off the rear and don't have room for a swing out spare holder. But like someone said the modern trucks probably have even more room for a large spare.
I'd personally rather have it...
I've had the camper about 4 years now and she's been pretty solid for the most part, I would imagine yours incorporates new and even better building materials / methods. One thing I've had to chase down a bit is some of the screws loosening up especially the ones that hold the outside lifting...
Great looking rig I like your choices on the interior too. I have a 2000 8' cabover in a modified tool bed. Brian is indeed a great guy to work with, the extent of my communication with him has mostly been questions regarding my old camper which he's always happy to make time for. I love the...
Looking good dude! I always enjoy seeing what can be done on a modest budget with some hard work. Anyone with a big wallet can say take my money but us blue collar guys have to roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty!
Enjoy!
Different tools for different jobs, hauling a street bike on an RV isn't really the same as hauling a dirt bike (with full knobbies) on a 4x4 expo rig. The Harley is made for long distance touring, a dirt bike... Some folks like to stage in the woods, ride single track all day and have a base...
I just stumbled on this old thread after fabbing up my own home brewed glare solution. I run mine mounted to my pop-up alaskan camper and ended up making mine tilt-able and was able to adjust it to keep almost 100% of any glare off the windshield and hood. Dust on the windshield is a non-issue...
Nice work you really brought that back from the dead! I'm an avid rider as well and that was the main motivation for setting up my rig. Nothing like a comfy place to camp and stage after a good ride!
This has got to be the coolest light weight hard-sided pop-up design I've seen bar none! If I were to go into business this is what I would be building
