Limited Slip Faceoff: Detroit TrueTrac vs. ARB Air Locker

In my Dodge I run a factory rear Powr-lok. In my Willys I run a rear powr-lok and a front autolocker ( Spartan lunchbox style locker ) Honestly, I think lockers are not really need as much as people think. Most people give up A LOT of performance by not airing down there tires properly. I...

    Project: Doitall Dodge

Yeah, the turbo stuff is coming. Right now my biggest conundrum is what to do with the exhaust. If I ever want to make my center mounted winch idea I need to run the exhaust outside the frame. The new turbo is a pretty good time to do that, but dang it's a lot more work! If I ignore the future...

I bought the kit from Oregon Fuel Injection. A complete kit was $140ish. That came with the pump, hard line, spacer, and gaskets. My diaphram pump was OOOOOOLLLLLLDDDDDD. I don't think it was original, but it probably had way over 100K on it. I noticed some leak down issues and harder starting...

I think it made a difference overall. It seems to start a little better, I think the previous pump was leaking down a bit maybe? Runs better overall. It also holds boost better on long hills. I think I was draining the old pump pretty good. Boost is up a bit. It is pretty easy to hit 15psi now...

Nice to see another one saved and re-purposed!

A upgrade, holy cow! A low pressure piston lift pump. I noticed an increased ability to hold boost on long hills. My old pump was OLD....like hundred of thousands of miles old. It was a pretty easy install, but a pain to reach some of the bolts over the fender. Who's idea was it to build...

I vote for the minimal look. The structure on this old iron stuff can take a pretty good hit without disabling the vehicle. The radiator should be protected so you should be ok... Less is more and all that.

    Front shackel reversal...Yes or No?

The thing nagging me right now though, is do I do a shackel reversal or not? I know many of the pros/cons. Shackel in front allows the spring/tire to move forward (and over) something as its compressed. Shackel in back allows a more natural rearward path of travel making for a smoother ride...

The fuel inlet is NOT 1/8" npt. It measures .495" OD on the threads. I didn't have a pitch gauge. I will do a little more digging and see if I can figure it out. I guess I will basically need to make a fitting to adapt to 1/8" npt or something. In other news.... -My transition stumble was a...

My springs are a homemade job by the PO that are a POS. They ride pretty stiff and probably have less travel than stock. However, they are still in the truck, work, and haven't sagged. I guess they are not THAT bad. The distance from the top of the main leaf to the bumpstop is 2.75-3" The...

Thank you very much! Yes, you pretty much summed it up. Take a bunch of old stuff and make something 'new' and fun. Recycling at its finest :)

I finally got off my lazy rear end and did something... This is the elusive float spring from a late model 2150 carb. As far as I can tell one end goes under the float to help it go in the closed position. It is a VERY light spring however and doesn't help much. I ended up modding the end...

I'm going to go against the grain on this board. I just hate roof racks. I love the work you have done on yours, but I would totally limit the gear, if any, that would live on the roof rack full time. I would use it only as space in the last resort. There is pretty much no worse location for...

    Jk Build A or B

For 35s I would run the AEV 2.5. This will most likely keep your from trying to squeak on 37s later :) If your going to keep it mild, jeep it mild. The factory platform works just fine for what you are saying. Personally. I wouldn't get carried away with tons of heavy bolt on parts.....

Well, I guess I will be trying some of this..... ....in the fuel bowl. Methanol rated fuel cell foam. Amazon has a good price on the stuff, but the wrong picture. RJS 20217-1. The '-1' is the important part. It's about twice the cost for the methanol rated stuff. Summit has it too...

Operation brass float was a success.... It took a little bit of time to tune it in. I found that I needed to not only adjust the needle tab, but also the main body a bit to get everything where I wanted. I used the quarter trick to set the level. The fuel is just barely touching the...
