JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

It all depends on how complicated you want to get..... Earlier in the thread the door insert idea was tossed around. It basically boils down to the fact that the 4 door B-pillar would require a completely new seal design at the front. The only way I have worked out to do this with mostly off...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

Sure, this was more of a thought exercise than anything. I think something like this would have a market, but it would be a small niche market. If they ever offer a factory diesel in the USA I will get more serious about the idea....

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

So.....still working on my new t-case...... The bushing for the front output shaft in the rear output shaft was worn out. The Novak rebuild kit came with a new one. Then I just needed to figure out how to get the old bushing out. This is what finally worked..... I was able to stick the...

yeah. I hear you. There are lots of ways to build cool stuff without spending lots of money, but you usually have to have lots of time and lots of tools :) I thought long and hard about trying to fit a toyota mini-truck crawler box between my existing SM420 and D18. I decided to go with the...

You could do a more normal crawl box between the transmission and transfer case if you have the wheelbase...

I don't think so. The underdrive bolts basically in place of the rear output housing and feeds power back into the top input of the transfer case.

Thanks! The QT low range unit is defiantly larger than I expected. Having the underdrive bolt to the back of the transfer case solves a LOT of issues in a short wheelbase vehicle.

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

yeah....need to make a few things... There will be an adapter plate on the back of the D18 that bolts to the PTO port and provides the underdrive bolt pattern. This will also function to separate the fluids of the two cases. Provide a front seal for the gear box. It will also provide a bearing...

2.6:1 low range planetary 'underdrive' that I am modding to fit on the back of the Dana 18 transfer case. They aren't small, that is for sure! No effect on driveline length, which is nice for my 85" wheelbase. The gearbox lives behind a V8 in stock applications, so it should be fine behind my...

Middle of summer, lets talk about snow!

all I know is that my Willys is under 3000lbs running nice wide 35x13.5x15 Krawlers....it should float well at like zero psi :)

    Vehicle Recovery Question

Tough call on the particular vehicle... In that kind of situation I have found it much easier to pull the vehicle up on the road from the front. This way the front tires are turning to come up over the edge while the rear tires are just going in a lazy arc. If you try and pull it backwards with...
