    Camper shell conundrum....

All ideas that will work.... I just haven't seen the one that I to do yet. I'm picky like that :)

    Camper shell conundrum....

But no 'rack' ability, not hard sided, etc.... I had thought about that system, but it just isn't it.

    Camper shell conundrum....

Yup, that is basically what I am thinking. For me its just as easy to build the rack in the first place.... I do like the idea of the entire top panel sliding forward however. It would depend on how the roof level matched up. I tend to like things pretty compact and smooth. For me the rack over...

    Project: Doitall Dodge

Thanks, no problem. It's not really THAT special of a truck, it's just a beat up, used up, truck that got one more life ;)

Everything is always for sale :) You just have to dazzle me with the right number.....and then give me enough time to fix all the little things that need fixing. The rims are 5" backspacing, 17x9, 3600lb load rating

    Camper shell conundrum....

haha, yeah, the center mounted winch idea is still on the list. I have been looking for a used superwinch ep12.5 ( lots of cable and an external brake ). I have been distracted by my Willys rebuild lately. Anyways. I am trying to boil the idea down as much as possible to get what I want. I...

    Camper shell conundrum....

neat idea with the double hinges. I am not a big fan of just having a boot rubbing up against the cab. It always wears through the paint eventually.

Was this with the power valve possibly not working? I can't imagine the jetting was THAT far off. It could have been leaning out at altitude without a working power valve...that could explain why it felt like it was running better. Is the engine modified at all. What size 2100 are you running?

    Camper shell conundrum....

That is another solution but not the one for me. I have a car trailer but I never seem to have it when I stumble across things I 'need' to drag home....

    Camper shell conundrum....

I had a few ideas this afternoon..... -If the rear window was only as wide as the top portion of the shell it could fold up/forward against the roof without having to be too complex. A simple piano type hinge would allow it to go either direction, but I think it would still have to be...

Thanks, the truck has been great overall for what I have invested in it. All in all this truck is probably close to 'done'. It all depends on how long I want to keep it. I have had a yearning for something a little bit newer/nicer/etc lately. No big rush though, this one just keeps going and...

1973 Wagoneer - Full Size Camping Goodness

Yup, no win/win with either option. I generally carry a spare fuel pump on long trips. I have only ever had one go bad after sitting for 1-2 years without moving. If they get used often I think they last a lot longer. They do make some piston style mechanical fuel pumps now for the more popular...

1973 Wagoneer - Full Size Camping Goodness

Great thread... Do you carry a spare electric fuel pump? While it is still a simple carbureted engine and you could probably rig a gravity feed system to get you home, I am still REALLY on the fence about using an electric primary fuel pump. I'm scared of technology however so don't mind me....

    Camper shell conundrum....

This probably isn't going to go anywhere soon, but it might make it onto the list. I am more thinking about this idea for a 'new' version of my current truck based off a 3rd gen dodge truck.

Chrysler on boad with 54.5 MPG CAFE requirement for 2025. Fingers crossed

Mileage isn't rocket science...or doesn't have to be. Vehicles just need to be lighter, more aerodynamic, use less power for auxiliary features. What I don't like is the .gov telling me I HAVE to have things. I am very confident that I could build a light weight aerodynamic vehicle that...

    Camper shell conundrum....

Both good solutions. Removing the shell really isn't an option. I have tried that in the past and always ended up with a situation where I needed the opposite configuration then I had at the time... My rough idea.... -Have a tubular frame with panels that could be folded/rolled up out of the...

    Camper shell conundrum....

I have been running a normal cab-high fiberglass camper shell on my Dodge for a few years now.... What I like... -Enclosed dry space to store gear, dogs, or whatever -Large hard sided dry place to sleep in stealth mode on long trips or while camping What I don't like.... -Loading things in...

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

cool! Those are the discharge ports for the accelerator pump circuit I believe. #47 jets would probably be pretty close to correct for 0-2000ft on a 4.2 liter motor from what I have read. My little 3.7L engine at 7500ft needs a BUNCH less jet than the stock #47s I have. #45s seem to be...

    Project: Doitall Dodge

On this generation truck....not a problem. The front axle is a kingpin style dana 60 almost identical to the GM version, just about 2" narrower with slightly different brakes. There where some odd D61 versions with 3.07 gears from what I have heard, but still basically the same thing. Mine...

I jetted it down again.....from 46s to 45s. The seat of the pants feel is even better. It seemed to fix my flat feeling from 3000-4000rpm. I stuck in a new test plug in #6 to watch for a few weeks. I will see what it tells me. I think I am getting pretty close. Being at 7460ft at the house sure...
