Yup, used tires and wheels. Krawlers on steel beadlocks probably are not going to be perfect no matter what..... The vehicle probably has more pavement time on it than anything at this point. I have been trying to get some miles on it to iron out bugs.

I drove the Willys into work today.... I got one 'Thats ************' and one thumbs up at the gas station while I got my ice tea. Overall it drove pretty nice. I have a slight shake in the steering wheel at 50-55? I think its probably the front tires being out of round, out of balance, or not...

Thanks for the info. I'm not super attached to my SM420 at this point. A T18 seems like such a better fit in the chassis. No worries about the 1310 front yoke and you can even run a normal diameter front driveshaft for the most part. The SM420 reverse bulge is still going to be in the way even...

The SM420 really isn't THAT short once you stack an adapter on it. My custom 1/2" long adapter is a one off and causes more issues than it solves. The SM420 also has the reverse bulge on the passenger side that creates a lot of front driveshaft issues. So far a T18 is winning. I loose a little...

I'm not very happy with my SM420, custom adapter, and D18. Its a cool one off piece....but I tend to worry about the one off parts in the long run. I have a persistent leak with the adapter also..... So if I replace the existing transmission and transfer case what should I replace it with...

I used these for the isolators. They seem to be in the universal parts section of most auto parts places for less than $5 http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/3A-Racing-GM-Honda-and-Acura-exhaust-insulator/_/N-25vy?itemIdentifier=110789_0_0_ The hanger was just round rod I bent to...

Yes, I bought full 180 degree mandrel bends and then cut them to the angles I needed. I made a little cheat sheet paper template to mark cut lines for every 5 degrees of bend. That helped a lot. I purchased the bends from Summit Racing. They where the low cost versions...I think I paid about $20...

    Vintage Jeep/Willys Question

If you aren't going to keep just about EVERYTHING stock I would just buy a brand new tub ( steel or aluminum ) and build a new boxed frame. Then fill it with whatever stuff you want..... A stock flat fender is as cool as cool gets, but unless your going to be a purest and keep it restored, I...

    AEV Diesel Brute

QSB refers to the modern CP3 style high pressure electronic fuel injection system (among a few other things )....very similar to any modern Cummins you would see in a 2003+ dodge truck.

Trying to get better at documentation.... Here is the lip seal I used on my D18 rear output yoke.... http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/Timken-Transfer-Case-Seal/1969-Jeep-CJ5/_/N-iquaiZ6o2sg?itemIdentifier=487175_46154_0_10492%2C10642 Its part number 472635, Timken. It seemed to work...

I finally got the Willys on a scale....or rather scales. I have access to a pair of truck scales at work. They get calibrated every so often and are for much heavier loads, but still..... Total= 2920 lbs Front= 1600 lbs Rear= 1320 lbs DF- 780 lbs PF- 820 lbs DR- 660 lbs PF- 660 lbs I'm pretty...

Yup, 1.08 version, and I have the factory manual choke version without all the extra junk. Simple Simple. I will probably pick up a set of #45's to try.....and probably a few others :)

Thank you for the input. I am REALLY digging my MC 2100. I love the fact that it is just so simple. I think all carbs require a little bit of a black art to tune right, but having the proper tools really seems to help. I need to get an wide band O2 setup, that would be very neat..... I have #47...

The internal unit is working, but still isn't making me happy. I have the stroke from the pedal minimized as much as possible, but I think I need to make another stop or something. Basically if your not careful, or the starts align right, you get slight over-travel of the internal hydro cylinder...

Well how big isn't it? It's not as big as a 2wd gm 1/2 ton truck..... I brought the willys into work today. I got the exhaust leak fixed, that made a big difference in the exhaust sound. It also doesn't pop as much now when getting off the throttle. Overall it seems to be running pretty...

    Lowering COG

The 03-06 jeeps are pretty tight around the fuel tank. You might have to drop the fuel tank slightly ( 3/8-1/2" ) to get everything to clear without a body lift. The safari tank probably complicates things just a little bit depending..... The AEVNth tummy tucker is a pretty nice unit. In...

1- gauge preview! I am putting together a how I installed them thing with more pictures, but since you asked.... I went with Autometer Z-series since they a a good quality affordable gauge with LOTS of options. I ended up going with an in dash tach to replace the speedometer. That is just...
