JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

I don't really see the door insert as a hard part to fabricate. The top on the other hand....ick. The bolt on JK8 kit also retained the factory B-pillar where the current weld on kit replaces it. I wish I would have had this idea last year so I could have looked more carefully! Depending or...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

Good idea.... I also remember that there was a 'bolt on' JK8 kit at EJS last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vildRrRHZ8M

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

That is kinda the point of this concept. Have an aftermarket solution for the lack of the factory avaliability of the J8 style 3-door :) A quick simple bolt on solution for those who want that function. Heck, if you did it right you convert back to a regular 4-door in a few hours..... What...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

Thanks. I am torn on having the rear 'door' panels being anything other than just a panel. A drawer could be a very clever use of that area. Currently in my crazy little brain, I am thinking a water tank under a flat floor shelf ( that would fill the space from the factory rear seats ) would...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

This all boils down to what works for me doesn't need to work for other every other person...... I'm not saying I want Tom Sheppard's G-wagon ( well I do, but not in this capacity ). I basically fall off the page when it comes to the crossover between 'overlanding' and 'rockcrawling'. I tend...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

Sure, probably more than 'mild' for most people, but how does that really affect this concept? I could see a long wheelbase 2-door JK being fairly attractive to the more mild overland expedition thing..... I keep going back to Tom Sheppard's G-wagon. If a 4-door was the only way to go, why...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

No trailer.....at least not normally. The perfect vehicle would BE ABLE to tow a trailer half way decent for other uses, but I can't see doing that all the time, especially the type of wheeling I like to do.

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

Basically I guess. I don't really consider myself a rockcrawler, but rather some kind of adventurous off-roader. Most of the trips I do, or take part in with my friends, are multi-day trips over more difficult terrain than most 'overland' style trips. One example are these 3-4+ day...

    The Dakar Car

I'm not saying its a bad idea, its just that its a TON of work. Much Much more than trying to make a long wheelbase 2-door JK type thing. If I was going to do a full frame up project I would probably lean toward having Aqualu make me a CJ8 tub with the rear axle moved back to the CJ7 position...

    The Dakar Car

My current idea for a mini-modular camper for the rear of a 4-door JK sized vehicle. 1- water tank or storage shelf that made the front part of the floor flat and level with the rear section of the floor. Just a simple bolt in shelf could be nice. You could store a bunch of heavy stuff like...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

I need to recover from my Willys buildup....and finish a lot of detail stuff on it.....and play with my Dodge a bit....but I think my next full build will be something based on this concept. In the end I basically want a single vehicle to do everything.....and that is ALWAYS hard to pull off.

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

The 'switched' portion of the fuse block is fed by that single switch. The HEI feed wire is switched......and the alternator feed wire is switched. So basically they are on the same side and 'touch' at the main on-off switch. Its basically the same thing as having them y'd near the engine like...

Ways to Increase the Jeep JK Payload

As mentioned there is more to this than just adding a few things and calling it good. If you could get your hand on the data, I think getting your hands on the specifications for the modifications that went into the J8 chassis would be worth an in depth look, specifically the modifications to...
