JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

It's not that I just don't like the looks.....I don't like the small odd sized rear doors, the roll up window weight, the small size of the pass windows, the leaky factory top, among other things. If you like the 4door JK that is just fine, it's just not what I want. If they offered the J8 in...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

They waste a lot of space with the top giving short bed dimensions. This was posted a page back.... 66" from the inside wall of the tailgate to the rear of the front drivers seat (seat fully to the rear) 42" interior height of hardtop to floor at rear cargo area 59" cargo area width from inside...

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

We wired it like that (kinda) for the shakedown. We just added a manual switch and power supply for the alternator charge wire. I only have one large pull switch for the the 'on' feature on the vehicle, not your typical key or whatever. I am most likely going to add a diode, if it fails I...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

I already have one of those..... The only really big difference is that mine has 39" tires, Cummins, one ton running gear, np205, a longbed :) Spare tire is inside standing up ahead the drivers side in front of the wheel well. I LOVE this concept and it works fantastic for everything buy...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

For me. I don't want or need the rear doors. They are heavy and take up interior space with the door thickness for the roll down window and such. I'm not saying that no-body needs them, but I don't want them. I think having the a large window on the passenger side and a large storage box on...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

A half ton pickup even with short bed is too large. Rear overhang and overall body width become a factor. Maybe a long bed tacoma? I just wheeled moab with a friend that used a 4-door tacoma, older gen. The wheelbase wasn't bad. Overall width wasn't bad. The rear overhang past the rear bumper is...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

Dang it, stop being all logical. I don't mind building a few things. I'm more hopping that someone will just build this idea and then I can go buy one...

Yup, I never could get the flip around seat thing to work out like I wanted......

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

Yup, started a thread on that at one time..... CJ8 body with the rear axle moved back.....highline, 37s, etc. I think it would be nice to be able to use the factory or aftermarket CJ8 tops. Edit: I am trying to get AWAY from building a complete vehicle from the ground up by using a 4-door JK...

JK Hardtop rear quarter window storage

Very cool idea. I would probably add a removable panel to the inside to allow you to get at stuff if you can't open the door. It would totally be a bummer if your recovery gear was in that location and you got stuck with a tree or rock up against that door. Something like that would happen to...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

They are going to kick us out of the Jeep section soon.....

    The Dakar Car

Nice....stove insert in the sink! Good idea! What about having a replacement rear door that contained a micro-kitchen? Be able to use it from the inside fairly easy, open the door and use it from the outside. It could be added to the vehicle without an interior mods.....just bolt on the new...

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

Dang it, stop filling my head with more ideas ;) One reason I am looking at the JK is aftermarket support. I would LOVE to build something like a FJ43.....you know, something simple like one with a Duramax, 4l80, atlas, and portal axles.....just saying.....

    The Dakar Car

The next evolution of that idea may be to make the 'door' a slide out of some kind. The rear door on a JK is kinda an odd shape..... I doodled up a concept once for a vehicle that had front seats that kinda turned around or converted to face backwards. Then the 'front' of the rear sleeping...

    The Dakar Car

Yup, you basically nailed it, and I can't imagine why the aftermarket hasn't attacked that concept with the 4-door JK platform. I would think that it would be pretty easy to make a LOT of different modular configurations for the platform. Toss in a diesel engine and I would give up a kidney :)

JK 4-door to 2-door long wheelbase conversion.....

While its not really my style....... A top with more height in the rear section could be used to create more storage volume, headroom, etc.

    The Dakar Car

I'm coming from a regular cab long-bed pickup with a camper shell. I can only go in from the tailgate and I don't think its THAT bad. As long as the gear is organized, and its not stuffed to the brim, I find no issues with that setup at all. I basically want a 2-door JK with room to sleep in...

Trying to nail a 2012 JKU Expo Rig design down...

tough call, but judging my your modification list the vehicle is most likely going to end up pretty heavy.... I would vote for the new front housing......Dynatrac or maybe even the new TeraFlex version. A few other notes. -I don't think roof racks are the way to go. Weight, even just the...

    The Dakar Car

I tend to agree with that BUT, I just try and think about my friends the Uptons.....they did a round the world trip in a CJ5, went through the Darian Gap, and slept INSIDE the jeep most of the time on the road. Great story if you not familiar with the expedition...

New Hemi Mopar Jeep Wrangler Apache | 2012 Easter Jeep Safari

I think the dealerships order the loaded Rubicons to get people in the 'impulse buy' category.....they go to the dealership, see one, and finance it. Why not have the fancy one to tack on some more money to that loan, payments, etc.....
