A bit more progress.... The t-case shifters are rebent for the new tunnel. What a pain. Things are pretty tight with the dash and new top panel area on the tunnel. The t-case shift levers have around 3/4" around them, but its still tight! I have no idea what I am going to do for a 'boot'...

SM420 short shifter kit.... I had to cut down the shifter and rebend it to clear the dash. Its still TIGHT but I will be adding abut 1/8-1/4" of rubber in the body mounts. I will most likely have to re-bend the upper part of the shift stalk once I get the seats mounted...... Getting the...

Make it look like a CJ6 so you can use a factory CJ6 top and doors! That is worth money...

I just keep trying to remind myself that everything that I am doing is going to lead to a GREAT little jeep that will last another few decades I hope! I do think that if I was going to do it over again I would do it differently, but I used what I had. I would STRONGLY advise anyone that is...

There is a giant sucking sound coming from my garage! Ordering LOTS of parts doesn't make for good posts....but they have to be ordered. I spent pretty much the entire weekend making a list and checking it twice! It ended up being about 6-10 different lists....but DANG that was a lot of work...

I have a trailer, I will not be flat towing it. If I had to flat tow it for some reason I can pull the rear shafts right out through the spindle. A flange style floating axle is the strongest option I feel. Jeep 6-bolt style 27 spline hubs are not known for being the strongest units.

There are NOT going to be hubs on the rear axle. I went back and forth on this and after doing a lot of research I decided that hubs or drive flanges in the rear would not be strong enough. Most if not all Jeep locking hubs your going to find are only going to be a 27 spline connection at...

yup, its one of the things I really wanted to do. Having to use the larger bore Yukon spindles for for the 30 spline rear flanged shafts kinda threw a monkey wrench in it, but I will be able to retrofit the front with the same spindle and just use a 27 spline outer axle in front and stock jeep...

I was going to make some gaskets or as mentioned maybe stick in some o-ring grooves if I can find that tool for the lathe. The spacers where 'free' scrap from work, its 6061 so I am not complaining. Its easy to machine and more than strong enough I think.... You can also use regular GM front...

Some more pics of the full float conversion ( I tore the other side apart tonight) Here is what an early CJ5 Dana 44 rear axle looks like with everything stock removed.... Bolt on a simple aluminum spacer. The bore on the axle bearing pocket is smaller than the locating feature on the...

I need a tubing bender to make the cage, and I couldn't find anyone local to let me bend some tube...... So I guess I have to make one...... Its designed to use pro-tools 105 dies and to use an 8-ton air over hydraulic ram for power. It took me about 3 hours to get this far. All I need to do...

    JK Flat floor

Someone needs to make a FULL flat rear floor kit that just bolts in......just sayin' :) I like how you kept access to all the main storage areas under the floor, very nice!

    Poll: stretch, trailer, or both

I voted stretch :) I would probably just buy a replacement cj6 tub and frame. Then just transfer everything you have over. That wouldn't be the cheapest way to do it, but it would probably be the easiest. I think with a cj6 your still going to have to pack light!

Thanks. I'm going to refer to it as my clown car stance :) Its just silly low. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out so far. The springs still need to break in and I have to get the final length of the shackles figured into the overall height, but it should end up abut as low as in the...
