    Trans-America Trail

I have been thinking about doing it and I have been wondering the same thing. I can't see sand being much of an issue, does anyone have pics or the location of the 'problem' areas. I may be willing to go scout the Utah section and have a good friend in Nevada that may be able to check that area.....

It felt productive and slow at the same time..... The Y-pipe is almost finished. I only have one more bend to go. I ended up having to make a new flange for the passenger side exhaust manifold so that slowed me down a bit.... I did get the new 30 spline side gears in my Powr-lok rear...

    1980 CJ7 first Jeep build

If you've got a welder coming just make your own tube fenders.... Neat build. I like seeing some of this older stuff getting a new lease on life!

Oh, and yes, there will be a junction just after the crossmember, one of those V-band clamp sets. That will be followed by one of those stainless steel flex couplings. I am most likely going to add a hard mount from the exhaust the the transmission near the merge pipe. I think this will help the...

Good tip, thanks! I will de-stroke my pedal linkage when I bleed it.....bleeding it is going to be fun anyways.....

Just a bit more..... I'm not sure if I like doing exhaust systems. I built a Y-pipe merge collector thing for my transition from 2" dual to 2.5" single on the rear section with the muffler. Figuring out how to make the merge was a little interesting. It's basically just two 45 degree bends...

This is what I used... http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Park-Lok-Hydraulic-Brake,1970.html I can't really say good or bad yet. I will try and remember to post some more info after I get rolling around. It's not an emergency brake really.....just a parking brake. I wouldn't use it for hours and...

Tonight I started on the exhaust...... This is the easy side, but it still turned out ok I think. Its 2" mandrel bent tube sectioned and welded. Nothing fancy..... This side is going to be more difficult! I need to go over the driveshaft and under the transmission. I don't think the...

Yup, hydraulic park-lock. The knob will come up just under the edge of the seat. Push the pedal, hit the knob, and the rear circuit is locked. Its basically a simple temporary parking brake. I may change my mind, but I think it should work for now. I don't have a lot of other options for a...

Why thank you! I think its going to be pretty dang neat when its 'done'. If I was going to start from scratch and choose parts I didn't already have I would probably do a few things different, but overall it's still going to be cool I think. I wanted to do something different than I had seen...

    Ultimate crazy old jeep adventure.....

I think I have read a few reports of people doing the TAT in a 4 wheel vehicle. I don't think there is very much, if any, single track? For an old open top jeep.....pacific coast highway during the right time of year could be awesome! I just can't wait to get out and do something in my old...

Yesterday was productive..... I made most of the hard lines for the chassis. I still need to find a misc fitting or two but they are all in place and routed. I decided to do the chassis hard lines in steel AN-3 fittings. With all the transitions I had to make from metric or NPT in the...

    Project: Doitall Dodge

I have been super impressed with the new tires. They seems to be wearing REALLY well! Traction in the ice and snow is good. At this rate I will be getting at least a few more years out of them....

Yesterday was transmission shop day... The engine ( buick 225 v-6 ), transmission ( sm420 ), and transfer case ( Dana 18 ) area all back together now.... I also had to do some fun stuff like..... Modify my ultra thin one off homemade adapter a bit. This mounting bolt for the transfer...

Thank you. I don't think its the perfect solution, but its close. Ideally I think having the tank under the rear rear floor behind the rear axle would be best, but the complexity of the tank to retain good ground clearance and have decent capacity would have taken things to a whole new level...

I left it open. I have a few drain holes on the bottom to help when washing it out. The main reason to leave it open is the nuts I welded on the back of the mount. If I ever mess those up it will be nice to be able to get at those without having to cut off a cover.

Thanks for working on the pic! Yup, its pretty small for being on 35s with about 4-5" of compression travel! It will probably end up being about 68" tall with the cage in place, maybe a little bit lower once the spring break in a little bit. So far I am pretty happy with how it has turned out...

A set of new springs is on the list for sure. Honestly, at this point the truck just works so well I can't bring myself to tear into it again. My Willys project has been sucking up ALL my time lately. After that one is 'done' I will take another look into the Dodge....

Thank you! More coming soon. I spent the day assembling the transmission and t-case to the engine for hopefully the last time ( knock on wood ). I will get some pics up tonight....
