Thanks. It's coming together pretty neat. Its fun to build something you don't HAVE to drive every day. I still say its basically like a big kids go cart you can drive around on the road......

While I agree that what these trucks need is a longer fender opening front to back......and that is why I did what I did..... I am saying that the dually bed wheel opening AND the trailer products front fender would make a GREAT combo for running larger tires on these trucks. The amount of work...

A bit of fun tonight.... I got the steering column mounts finished up. I still need to stick a few more mounting bolts for the bottom mount..... I think I need to trim down my spring pins down a bit. I added 6 degree shims to the rear. Time to stick in the rear driveline tomorrow! My...

The fiberglass fender is just about as durable as the factory dodge sheetmetal! :sombrero: The dually bed has a MUCH higher opening than I did. All I did was basically horizontally stretch the wheel opening. You can make anything.....its just time, money, tools, and quarters in the swear jar...

If your serious about running larger tires with no lift.... Find a dually bed and remove the outer fender, bingo, instant HUGE wheel opening. Having the bed painted to match is going to be pennies compared to all the custom work I did. In the front, look into the fiberglass fenders from...

Yeah, not going to weld in a new floor....I would probably buy a new tub before that. This thing isn't suppose to be perfect, just functional.

I need to make this a little quick. My laptop power supply just decided to die....GREAT! Anyways.....yesterday.... Finished plumbing the brake system to the master cylinder.... Test fit the new tunnel after welding.... Tonight..... Figured out my issue with the clutch master...

Since I am running a homemade super short SM420 to D18 adapter ( only 1/2" thick ) there isn't room for a larger joint. Looking back on it now, I should have either changed to a 'normal' 4-5" long adapter and a normal 1310 u-joint......or changed to a D18 with the 1" thick long adapter. Oh well...

No too much to report just yet..... I did get this started. The master cylinder is from a 1975 Chevy Monza, it's a small bore MANUAL brake master cylinder. It should be just about the right size for my smaller sidekick/tracker calipers. As you can see, I don't have a lot of extra room...

Thanks! I don't think we get too many old school build your own frame and everything else from scratch builds on Expo, so I think it was good to share it..... It's something completely against the main stream of the sport right now. While I appreciate the modern luxury and refinement of...

Tele, Your more than welcome to come check it out. I will probably be driving it most of the summer too! On the fuel sump. I tried to pull the exhaust as far away as I could. It looks a little closer in the pictures. Anyways. I do have a novel design in my head for a heat shield for the...

It was a productive day! The tubs back on the chassis, Hopefully the last time for at least a while! The chassis went on well. It's got that 70 years of patina thing going on! I did end up adding a 'dimple' to the passenger side exhaust. I just think the front driveshaft would have been...

Today went pretty decent..... I built a few of these to hang the rear section of the exhaust.... I needed two rubber mounts to hold the rear section of the exhaust from the V-band clamp backwards.... I also made a hard mount off the transmission near the merge pipe to keep the forward...

Now for some progress.... I was able to get all but the last 6" of the rear exhaust section finished. I ran out of tubing....dang it! I ended up canting the muffler to the middle of the chassis by about 10 degrees to get the muffler and tailpipe away from the fuel sump location. It's still...

    1980 CJ7 first Jeep build

On your new wheels, a couple wraps of duct tape over the safety bead area functions as a pretty good budget bead retention system.....

Can I post/attach PDF here? I have never tried that. I need to know what CLR radius the tube is bent along? It would be like 2" dia tube on a 3" CLR ( center line radius ). If the CLR changes so does the locations of the alignment lines. I guess I could make it kinda universal with multiple...

what bend radius do you guys need the template for? I ended up printing it on 11x17 paper to get it to fit......

The 'machine gun' crossmember is basically behind the step in the floor behind the front seats. If you where to notch it the exhaust would be above the floor of the tub.

The Y-pipe is all done except final welding. I think it turned out pretty decent. I do think that I may need to dimple it for clearance on the front driveshaft. I have the 2" pipe as close to the transmission as I dare. Not a big deal, but just one of those things.... I also got the collector...

Thanks, I think its coming out pretty neat. Its just a big pile of parts that I basically already had....then I just tried to make it kinda cool. I am going to use a approx 24" long 2.5" in/out glasspack. I need to get the exhaust system high enough in the chassis that the rear axle tube can...
