Tonight I built this. I am not a driveshaft shop, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn once.... This is the small 2pc shaft for the front end. It lets me use my mini u-joint front output thing. The carrier bearing is your standard GM part from a 1980 pickup. The shaft is made front my old front...

Yes, yes they did! I wish there where more old flat fenders kicking around instead of side by sides..... That was one of the reasons I posted the build....side by side competition. With the frame I designed I think just about anyone could build a 'new' flat fender now. You can buy the body tubs...

That same angle is on the ends of the winch mount where it hangs below the bumper ;) I was trying to get the frame to look kinda stock, but kinda not, hopefully it gets a double take or two. I don't have to get up into mine, it's LOW. Getting over the door opening is the biggest oddity. I can't...

Last night fun..... I got the steering linkage built. I was able to directly tap some 3/16" wall DOM tubing with a 1" OD. For a little flat fender like this I just couldn't bring myself going to complete overkill. Using the lathe to keep the tap centered and hold everything worked pretty well...

You don't get in....you put it on :sombrero: Getting in and out is a bit of a chore. Not as bad as most tube frame buggies though.....

I'm digging it. Super nice job. I really like your tube frame leaf spring CJ also!

I need to tone down the shiny, but I think it turned out pretty neat..... I'm going to try a wire brush or sandblast finish first.

I guess it all depends on what is enough. I had clean work clothes on this morning and took a quick pic.... I'm 5'10" and wear a 32 inseam pant. The high tech fist measurement is about 4.5-5" give or take. I think for a flat fender it is a LOT more room than stock. The seating position is...

More from tonight.... I got the passenger seat mounted! My S.O was kind enough to bring me out a burger and fries. Since she was MUCH cleaner than me she got to test out the seat. Her review was super positive.....something about a '#itchin' improvement over the stock seats. She agree'd that...

I had a productive evening.... First I made a new fitting for my clutch master cylinder. The speedway/afco/wilwood units all come with an adapter to female 3/8 brake double flare. I purchased an adapter to go to AN-4 male from that but once I put it all together it was to long and the cluch...

    tuff stuff synthetic winch line?

I recently purchased this version..... http://www.ebay.com/itm/GREY-92-X-3-8-SYNTHETIC-DYNEEMA-WINCH-ROPE-CABLE-BLACK-HOOK-ROCK-GUARD-/140679296162?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item20c123b4a2 Shipping was quick, great price, etc. I un-boxed it the other day. The line is going...

Busy night. I'm not going to bother with pics tonight.... I got the drivers side front and rear shock mounts built/welded/painted along with assembling the brakes on the same corners. They look the same as the other side I already posted pictures of. The rear full float axle is also together on...

It will be really nice to have it driving around again, that is for sure! I don't think it will ever be 'done' but hopefully most of the future projects will just be weekend or evening type stuff where I won't have to tear down the entire vehicle again! The list for future 'little' projects...

With the super light vehicle having the shock work at 50% might not be that bad.... I couldn't get the shock outside the tub with the narrow (54" wide ) rear axle, just not enough room between the tire and the tub. In a perfect world the wheel tubs would not extend out past the outside of the...

Tonight was one of those nights. On the one hand it was really cool, on the other hand kinda annoying with the little stuff. I got one side of the rear axle all converted to the new full float system. I ran into some small issues however. -The seal didn't fit. The OD of the seal was too...

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

Yup, that is basically the reason I kept my super short adapter. The small front driveshaft u-joint thing is a pain, but the long rear driveline is a good trade off. The transmission and transfer case also end up almost ahead of the seats. This makes getting the seats lower a little easier. If...

No worries, copy away! I wouldn't have posted the build and tried to detail the ideas I had if I didn't want everyone to be driving around in a cool old flat fender! 6" is a big stretch! Even 3" with the proper seat and wheel tub design would make all the difference. If your going to stretch...

Today was kinda lame. I got a lot done, but it just didn't go as fast as I wanted..... I added some shiny stuff to the engine bay. This was the lowest profile setup I could find for a normal carb. The plenum will have to stick out of the hood about 1-1.5" or so. The hood is going to be...

Just a few pics...too busy working! Steering column and steering shaft are in. Tomorrow I might build the drag-link and tie-rod so I can steer! I bolted on the front clip to help plan for the shocks. This this is TIGHT in the engine compartment with the raised fenders! I will have to...
