    LR3 285/60-18 versus 265/65-18 MPG

1- That Michelin is only available in TWO 18" LT/E load sizes. Stock not being one of them. I have the 32" 276/65x18. The other size, 275/70x18 (33") will go right on a stock Land Cruiser 200 series. 2- If you did not adjust your mpg math for difference in tires diameter, and used your on...

    LR3 285/60-18 versus 265/65-18 MPG

19-20 is specifically on the highway but on 2 lane roads where speed limits are lower anyway, it's not too hard then either if avg speed is more like 55 ish. I didn't notice much mileage difference between BFG and GY Duratrac. The DT possibly has a more efficient compound but this would have...

Maine Winter Romp 2015: Who's going?

Hmmm, I think people are dangerous/deadly, not tools.... ;) Bottle jack? Really? Sounds a bit dicey in messy conditions or at least as dangerous as improper use of a high lift. How about, instead of using a high-lift, a rolling aluminum floor jack, on wide base if soft ground? They can...

    LR3 285/60-18 versus 265/65-18 MPG

My first question is what kind of conditions you take the lr3 into. Your sig suggests you have options when it comes to where you're going and for what purpose. After wearing out a set of BFG AT ko, trying a set of Goodyear Duratracs, and realizing that I don't intend, too often, to take the...

    LR3 285/60-18 versus 265/65-18 MPG

When rolling along, at 55-70mph, the weight doesn't matter much. The tire choice will though.

    Which Lr3 Sump Guard

I have the RASTA "radiator guards" which are pretty cool. You might look into them.

    Which Lr3 Sump Guard

You may or may not realize that some of these only work properly/easily with factory bumper or with an ARB or similar bumper.

GAP Diagnostic– new products / IIDTool update announcement 12/2013

As far as I understand what I see happen on my vehicle, the moment I drive off, the IIDtool automatically "exits" which I presume also means exiting the service menu.

I almost tried them last winter. They look pretty good in person. Yes, 255/70x18 would be an ideal proportion for winter and probably right at 32". It's hard to know exactly what the subtle differences are between those two I listed. I suppose the compound is more true winter-like on the M+S...

Mpinco. I think most of us are aware of this. However, 285 does not particularly open up a plethora of options - yet that width does become a limitation in turning clearance. Additionally, winter tires don't make much sense being wider unless they are wide enough to provide floatation...

The stance is quite nice. I wonder how much, if at all noticeable, the on road stability control system will change with a 2.5" wider track. Maybe very little to none seeing as it is mostly based on the body roll/sway.

This is why I think the 285, which I also used first, is too wide for best clearances. I'm betting you wouldn't get any of the same frame rub on lock with 265. Ad chains as "Scubagreg67" asked and it's even more important.

You sure about that - tested ? I would be concerned that specific tire size at 285 is a bit wide for chains, the RUD chains anyway, even with the spacer. The relatively small width difference of a 265/65x18 could help in this regard.

And how would I do that in just a couple minutes? I don't think it's actually on the stops yet though as there is still a small amount of sway if I pull on the rack to try rocking the vehicle. Granted it hardly moves but it feels like there is still a little movement. -- Also, I think I had...

I wonder if the LLams tool I have could have worked differently in that situation. It seems to simply lower or raise regardless of the vehicle computer. For example, if I need the absolute lowest possible height for a parking garage, I first use the factory control to lower and lock in...

That would be a really nice addition. I have attempted to silence the rear parking sensors with no luck yet. It's a bit annoying that Kaymar would build in the sensor mounting holes that place the sensor in a useless location having them just alarm all the time. This is due to the carrier...

Anybody doing an LR3 as an off-road rig?

If you want more easy to gain breakover, get the LLAMS kit. I used it recently where breakover height was key and having an extra 50mm within 30 seconds is a great feature for an LR3 which you can then also drive 300 miles afterwards through mtn highways at normal height, or lower by -20mm if...

Anybody doing an LR3 as an off-road rig?

Sorry, I never saw this post. Did you make the trip and have a good time? For interesting routes with great views I enjoy the areas along the Columbia River Gorge through eastern WA especially and also the southern WA/OR border.

Tire setup for winter adventure LR3

Well, specifically my time in MN was mostly along the north shore of Lake Superior and into the woods north of there where -40 is common mid winter. The lake edge brings in wet snow but further out it's drier. I would expect NF to be similar. Send us photos! What are the top 3 or so most...
