Can you post some close up pictures of where the front rack and rear gates mount, and maybe the approximate size they should be? The American m101 series racks might fit it.
Bantam?
From what I can tell the trailer was originally red with black fenders. I've been researching prewar Bantam trucks and noticed a common paint scheme is red with black fenders. Also they had 6 lug wheels with hubcaps similar to the spare on the front of my trailer. Also, it looks like...
The tailgate is definitely not homemade, but it did have the angle iron brace added to the top and the hinges were changed. It looks to have had 3 hinges originally. The springs and axle look factory, but were moved about 3 inches forward and welded(you can't get to the bolts with the floor in...
If the tires are in good shape (not cracked) you can get around $100 each on the wheels. If the tires are junk you can sell the wheels for about $50 bucks each. They will fit Dodge Power Wagons and m37s.
28,000 is not unrealistic for a CUCV, especially a dually shelter carrier. My SRW m1028 has just under 40,000 which I believe to be accurate. I did have a m1009 blazer that had about 7,000 on the odometer, with the last listed mileage at 97,000 so they can roll over in the military. However...
The brakes themselves are also different on the original m101s vs. the m101a1s, and early m101s would have a separate light cable that connected to a receptacle between the handbrakes. Later ones use a cable that is wired in through a junction box on the drivers side of the a frame, same as the...
That's a modified m416. The dataplate is supposed to be at the back right. The wheels are not original, looks like the axle isn't either, the shocks are factory. Looks like an earlier one with the extra mounting tabs on the tub and no crossmember over the axle.
I just picked up this jeep trailer, and am having some trouble identifying what it is. It looks to be very similar in construction to ones made for Willys by Sterling and American Fire Apparatus Co, but there are some differences such as the tailgate chains and the stake pockets. It has had...
Yes you'll want a rotating pintle for towing a m1101/m1102 off road. On m105s the hitch can be flipped around for height differences but does not swivel, deuces and 5 tons have a rotating pintle.
Since he bought it from GL he got an SF-97. That is the certificate to obtain the title. It is non-transferable, so it is of no use to you. He needs to use that to get the title, then transfer the title to you.
The feeler gauge method mentioned in the tm is what was changed by TACOM, because it was a precision measurement on a "rough, painted surface" which could be ineffective. According to the change you should tighten the nut "until it stops" then loosen it a full turn, then line it up for the...
According to an equipment improvement report from TACOM it doesn't require the surface to be stripped, and the lunette should turn with a great deal of force by hand or with pressure from a cheater bar.
All m416 trailers originally had 4 welded sides, many had the backs removed or converted into a tailgate after life in the military (and a few were removed in the military).
