You're right, just amping up an OEM configuration wont last long. When I researched alternators the major difference with the XP was that the rectifier is laser welded, it has a hairpin design stator and better technology...
Yeah, you want the big 3. Google it but this kit should give you an idea of what you need: http://www.ficmrepair.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=59/category_id=23/mode=prod/prd59.htm
I installed the 250XP 4 years ago and it fit without modification. Sourced the cable from NAPA...
Yes, Emerald Mile is a good read. Although the Dory boatman river god motif is a bit nauseating. I did, however, have the pleasure of working with Kenton on 4 or 5 river trips in the 90s and that dude was the real deal.
Just to offer a counter opinion lots of folks have had success using a bedliner on a penthouse top. http://www.sportsmobileforum.com/forums/f19/re-finishing-the-ph-top-raptor-liner-6660.html
It especially makes sense to me with a fiberglass roof that you walk on to get stuff out of a rack etc...
Ambulance package seems like a PIA to me on a 6.0. It's already tight under the hood with heat management issues. The stocker is woefully underpowered. Stick something that is plug and play and at least puts out more amps at idle. Especially for bumping the two starting batteries back up...
Subscribed. Also a mtn biking, bc skiing, and raft junky. Got about 100 grand canyon river trips now, mostly for work.
And I like to read. A lot.:ylsmoke:
Try Ed at FicmRepair.com for a DCpower alternator. I have the XP250 on my 6.0 and am quite happy with it. http://www.ficmrepair.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=results/category_id=81/mode=cat/cat81.htm
Otherwise, Nations...

Should be 32 spline axles in your full floater. At least they were in the D60 out of a 2000 van I sourced from a salvage yard. Oddly enough the semi-float axles in the D60 that came on my 2005 E350 were 35 spline. Anyhow, I added an air locker, new 4.10 gears and 35 spline axles from...
My bad. I thought an HID upgrade came with clear turn signals. And it does look like there's LED strip light at the bottom of the housing. Why go to the effort to change out the colors on the shyte OEM lights just for looks? Guess I've done stranger things.
I found these guys very helpful when locating a discontinued interior trim piece. https://findafordpart.com/
Another place for obscure parts: http://www.famvans.com/
Flagstaff is good until the first snow. Otherwise, April/May is when the higher elevation rides open up. Sedona is good all winter long, unless it snows followed by warm days and cold nights. That turns the place into mush. Otherwise, the trails do not stay muddy. Rain is good. The riding...
If you make it out to Arizona to mtb, particularly Flagstaff and Sedona, give me a holler. I'll hook you up on rides or good spots to camp if you need it.
I'll offer a 2nd or 3rd opinion. If you want the same 8 x 165 bolt pattern that is on the front of your van your not going to want a sterling or 10.5. You want to keep an eye out for any axle out of a van between 99 and 2007 that is a D60 or D70. That's your best bet for plug and play without...
I'm not sure of the efficacy of hood louvers at speed but they definitely help dissipate the under-hood heat when stopped. At least on vans with the 6.0, underhood temps cook the wiring harness and are hard on electrical components like the FICM. By far the biggest difference was made by...
Agreed. The OP should get the largest cooler that will fit in his ambo. A bigger pan will do nothing and it's not a good idea to add another cooler like the Derale with a fan in series. That could restrict the return flow. I've also seen the same engineer Mark Kovalsky post that there is no...
