LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

Because most people want a more durable E load range or LT tire and I'm not aware of any/many that come in the 255/70x18 size. They are usually around 112 to 113 which is above the factory load rating of 111 but not nearly what an E will provide. You are correct on the size being good though...

I think you should let the kid drive next time! ;)

    New to me LR3

Did you mis-type that previous 35" tire size?

    Lucky8’s Project Discovery 3

You were probably not traveling so ridiculously fast though right? That speed can easily force water/mud into places it would otherwise never penetrate. Doesn't a starter, and especially an alternator have some rotating parts that work better not jammed up with the grit in mud?

    Lucky8’s Project Discovery 3

I don't need to see a video to know it's not the LR3. 2 hour critical component trail repair = not the winner :( I'd like to know what tires were on each vehicle.

    Lr3 vs. lr4 towing

Speaking of torque, I guess that's why my 2004 Discovery never felt all that terrible just driving and even light towing. It seems like the lr3 engine got a lot more hp but not proportionally more torque. I assume more torque would help it retain a gear longer. My main experience which...

    LR3 Dash Trim?

The middle is an ashtray/place for small items. Actually, you can pop the thing out and replace with felt lined storage bin. The right is lighter/12v socket. The left is 12v socket only. I have my left 12v socket wired to the 2nd battery and always hot for charging things with vehicle off :)

    Lr3 vs. lr4 towing

What are you trying to say? Don't both lr3 and lr4 have a "jag v8" ? Your post is confusing.

    Lr3 vs. lr4 towing

I had a gross combined weight of just under 14000 (fuel topped off = 300 lbs+) with about 6500 being the trailer apparently based on the CAT scale.

    Lr3 vs. lr4 towing

Maybe you just enjoyed the LR4 more than your Sequoia because the longer wheelbase (122" vs 112") and solid rear axle (with WD hitch) ought to do a better job or at least be more stable. However, for what it is as an overall vehicle, I'm still basically impressed with the LR3. Last summer I...

    Lr3 vs. lr4 towing

That's because there isn't enough torque or power to keep it going. I'm sure you've noticed trying to use the manual selection only results in going slower and slower as the grade or wind increases.

    LR3 Buying Advice

This is not at all necessary anymore since ARB has finally produced air lockers for the LR3. Personally I think it is a better solution as well. Now it allows someone to eliminate that rare factory option in favor of many other preferences a person may have. The sunroof clog is an easy fix.

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

Goodyear Duratrac is not available E range in the size he mentioned of 265/65x18 D range is not in that size either. Only 114SL which is right at the limit for factory minimum spec on stock LR3. At that point, there's not much sense in having such an aggressive tire pattern that won't hold up...

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

What makes you think the KM2, as cool as they are when in good shape, won't actually wear worse than the other ones? It seem they should wear worse than the other ones you mentioned. The Toyo aggressive tires look interesting although I don't have experience with them. Regarding "elevated...

Range Rover Sport as a mud bogging truck

"street tires" ? Hell, the red clay will even turn BFG All Terrain into slicks. I know, I've been there with my LR3 fully armored underneath and on 265/65x18 BFG. This is where the LR3 will start to struggle and it is not due to the traction control or other advances in technology, it is...

    Overland Journal: G-Wagen

That post was by an owner who is on P3 so you could ask him. He uses same name there. I'd guess 285/75x16 which is right at 32.5" in the BFG AT model shown.

Anybody doing an LR3 as an off-road rig?

You own both? It sounds like you have overlooked the facts for a more emotional approach which is fine, as long as it's not presented as reality based. ;) Emotionally speaking, I LOVE my Disco2!!! While the LR3 does weigh more, it can gain rather high ground clearance specifically due to...

    200 Series questions-~Touareg tdi

I guess this thread is long dead - but, in case anyone reads this thread for informational purposes, do not listen to anything the above poster wrote. A number of completely incorrect statements about the Touareg show a wide ranging lack of knowledge on the subject. FYI, I've owned the V10 and...

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

mmmm, snow..... putting a set together tomorrow using the Michelin LTX winter 275/65x18. I'll post photos. This will be my 2nd full set (I have full sets so just swap the whole wheel and tire for winter to summer). My "summer" set is BFG AT KO 265/65x18. I could actually use the 32.5"...
