This is a sad day, but we really aren't doing that much “wheeling” these days and are thinking of moving to a pickup/Four Wheel Camper combo. Here are the details:
Engine fully rebuilt in November 2010 by Robbie A. (powderpig on ih8mud.com, probably the best and most knowledgeable...
The axle is original, with some nice aluminum 5-lug to 6-lug adapters being used to fit the Toyota bolt pattern. I'm not sure where the adapters were sourced, unfortunately. As for new axles, look at ABC trailer supply or Southwest Wheel, both have online stores with good pricing.
Thanks for the comments. The rack and tent do raise together, the picture below is probably the best one I have of the tent in the "up" position, which is about 18" higher than where it normally sits for transit.
This one shows a pretty good closeup of the raising mechanism - basically you...
1966 Johnson Furnace M416 trailer, restored and highly modified
Most of the work on this was completed by the previous owner, and he did a fantastic job in my opinion. I’ve just added a few refinements here and there that make camping VERY comfortable. We are selling to go back to a simpler...

Running 265/70-17 Bridgestone Revo 2's on my wife's 4Runner, also a 2003 V8 Sport Edition. With stock suspension, they rubbed on some of the plastic fenderwell liner in the front when hitting bumps with the wheels turned. Some slight trimming cured that issue. After about a year I installed a...
I thought about posting in this thread, as my situation pretty much mirror's the OP's there, but I think I have come to about the same conclusion.
I've got an awesome FZJ80 Land Cruiser that's lifted, locked, armored, etc., and gets about 10-12 mpg pulling our little M416-based expedition...
Thought some of you here might be interested in this. My brother Lorenzo and a couple of other guys are in the midst of a cross-country bike touring trip. They're currently somewhere between Oregon and Washinton, and have been keeping up a pretty entertaining blog here...
