Fun few hours in the garage..... I went old school! I assembled some oilite brass bushings for the springs. They are off the shelf McMaster bushings, 7/8" od, 5/8" id, flanged, and 3/4" long. They worked just perfect, a light press fit. For the inner sleeve I used some seamless tubing that...

    70 C-20 4x4 Suburban Father/Son project

3-door (?).......ie no drivers side rear door. Very cool find. There is still a LOT of support for that gen truck. I am sure a lot of the parts cross to the 'burb.

    Project: Doitall Dodge

Major breakdown on the dodge...... The dang bolts that held the air cleaner bracket in place vibrated loose after 2-3 years.... I replaced them with grade 8 bolts and washers with all metal lock-nuts.....hopefully this doesn't happen every 2-3 years :)

Not much of an update, but an update.... I got the 4th u-bolt plate done, the odd one. I used a 3.5" u-bolt for the 'wide' side. It worked out fairly well. I ended up having to trim one of the webs on the center section down just a bit to fit. I have been contemplating welding a 3.5" radius...

Tire chains, snow, mud, and airing down.....

Oh no....the this thread is STILL coming back  Best advise I can come up with. Use what works for you! My general rules. If the snow is deep enough that you can reach the 'ground' without becoming high centered then chains can help. If the snow is deeps enough and solid enough that...

    90' Dodge Steering Question

The steering column joint from some Chrysler FWD cars works as a great replacement. Perhaps a New Yorker? Its a normal u-joint style unit....

    ICON Bronco

I have a friend that is HARD into bronco's he has been threatening to have me build him a bronco for a few years.... Something like this photochop... Or maybe this one.... I always wanted to do an homage to the big oly bronco but make it 4wd, half cab, etc. Trying to pull off the raised...

I made some u-bolt spring plates..... Here is the little jig I made for 3 of the 4 plates I need. I will have to drill another pattern for the odd plate on the differential side in front. U-bolt plate on the jig. There is a small aluminum puck in the middle that holds the bottom plate at...

I need a favor. Can someone watching this thread with an XJ, or an XJ owning friend, measure the distance from the floor to the bottom of the brake pedal please? I am trying to figure out how high I need to mount the pedal package in the tub to get a similar feel to the stock XJ pedal install...

Thank you! Sorry, not too much progress lately. I did most of the drilling for the u-bolt spring plates and I think my u-bolts showed up today. Hopefully tonight I can get the jig for the u-bolt plates done and maybe weld one up for a test fit on the axle! Getting the axles rolled under the...

First Gen Cummins, accept no substitutes

If I was going to do it over again I would just get a 1st gen dually bed and remove the plastic fender....instant HUGE wheel opening with a nice edge and no body mods. For the front a set of Trailer Product fiberglass front fenders would make it pretty easy. you would still have to do something...

It will be getting lots of primer and rattle can olive drab. Nothing fancy, just practical for making more modifications in the future. No full top planned. I may do something custom at some point, but don't really want to mess with it all. I will probably be doing a bikini top of some kind to...

First Gen Cummins, accept no substitutes

I'm fairly sure that stock H1 rims will not clear the factory steering arm and TRE on the knuckle ( the tie rod ). Basically the rim will not fit without cutting off the steering arm on both knuckles.

I have been super busy with my Willys rebuild and just haven't done much on the Dodge except put miles on it. I thought I would share a few thoughts and notes however.... -The new Pitbull Maddog radial tires have been GREAT so far. They are wearing REALLY nice so far on the 9" wide wheels. The...

First Gen Cummins, accept no substitutes

I'm fairly sure there will be an issue with the TRE and steering 'arm' on the knuckle. Basically the TRE ends up hitting the wheel. In some cases you have to trim OFF the factory tie-rod steering arm on the knuckles to get the H1 wheels to fit. I am running 5" backspacing 17x9" wheels and LOVE...

The spindle adapters just bolt on. The early jeep D44 rear has the 6-bolt pattern on the axle flange. Your standard 6 bolt spindle will just bolt right on to that pattern.....BUT the snout on the back needs to be turned down. I wanted to be able to run identical spindles front and rear AND...

It was a good day....but a long one. The 2nd tub is welded inside and out. I still have to do a little work in the tool box area on both, but they are not going anywhere! I did a 1.75x1.75, .120 wall sleeve in the bottom of the front bumper. This is to add a little bit more beef with the...

    Jeep Wrangler TJ/LJ Diesel option

I would love to see someone pull off the 2.7L 2000-2006 sprinter engine in a TJ/LJ. If only I had more money and time. I would love to give it a try. 2.7L inline 5 cylinder OM612/OM647 156hp ( was 161hp in the WJ GC ) It was used in the 2002-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 161hp/295ft lbs. That...
