    Light bar switch gets hot!

I am guessing that one of the wires on the switch is to ground the light in the switch. Unhook that wire and see if it's still hot

    Light bar switch gets hot!

Is it hot because it's a lighted switch?

School me on the topic of toilets ;)

If I fabricate one or buy a natures head, I am planning on building it into the lower cabinet structure with a removable panel to access it for service and possibly a hinged counter top above it for access when actually using it. This way it completely disappears when not it use.

Yeah no thanks on a $1700 Toilet. I don't think anyone needs a completely composted product for a camper either.

School me on the topic of toilets ;)

Yeah I'm well aware of the ongoing debate about composting toilets and if they actually compost or not. You're right though, there won't be complete composting going on without the heat but I am not concerned about that. I will either empty my container in a pit toilet, bury it or complete the...

School me on the topic of toilets ;)

I am seriously considering building my own composting toilet. I can make it package better and I would like an external pee bottle mounted under the camper. It would be a simple box with a lid that seals when you close it. A simple crank and stir mechanism, a fan and a funnel to catch pee. You...

    custom bumper reliability

Well put. If you try hard enough you can break anything. People who build these, do so with experience, usually. You build something, you break it, you make it stronger, you break it, repeat until satisfied. I would be willing to bet that most failures of decent equipment come from user error...

Can we get a list going of real world MPG with your rig?

20 mpg is looking more and more out of reach for me or any of us for that matter. After some more digging and input from others, I am going with 4.10 gears and hoping for 15mpg.

Yeah I thought that too but I also like the idea of being able to wheel pretty hard if I had the chance, especially before the camper box is mounted. That way I could put it through the paces and find it's limits without endangering the camper box.

I'm also considering moving my leaf springs inboard to mount directly under the frame. I'm already planning on redoing the spring mounts that they built before so the only extra work would be welding on some spring pads further inboard on the axle

I thought about that route but don't like how push pull gets wonky when you flex out the suspension. Maybe with the long arm from the npr steering box to the arm on the knuckle it won't be too bad. What do you think? Have you flexed yours out and checked how it effected steering?

I found this video of the rebelzilla. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVBroKP4_aM Right at the beginning you can see a shot of the steering bellcrank. It appears to be the supersteer component I was talking about.

Yeah I won't be spending $3900 :) Pretty sure of my route at this point. Going to build a beefy bell crank out of a corvette wheel hub. Simple, cheap and robust. Plus parts availability everywhere. I just have to fab a bracket for it and a bell crank plate to bolt to it. It's right next to...

I will have to scour some pics of the rebel truck. I did find some components offered by super steer that are meant for Chevy P30 chassis that I may consider. Also there is a freightliner bellcrank that could work if I fabbed an arm for it. Either way they are $ and I like the challenge of...

So I got the steering box from the donor npr mounted today. I am trying to figure out how to convert the front to back steering motion to side to side motion to steer the dana 60. I am currently leaning towards a fabricated bell crank utilizing a cartridge bearing type wheel hub from a corvette...

Can we get a list going of real world MPG with your rig?

I was just pondering doing some math to compare the metric offerings from everyone here. Thanks for this!

Today I got the camper box back on the frame and mocked it up in the location it will eventually mount. Then I trimmed off some of the back of the frame and fabbed a bumper with recovery points and a hitch receiver. I had some 3"x5"x.187" tubing left over from a project I did so I used that. I...

Yeah it makes my head spin a bit. Luckily it wasn't far off. I just shortened the upper arms and redid the frame mounts. Didn't mess with the axle mounts.
