    Dual battery setup?

For coffee, I just heat the water over a flame and pour it slowly over the grind. I don't really need a coffee maker. Just hot water and coffee. As far as light, I just use the trucks lighting system to set up camp in the dark. I just use a flashlight or lantern after that. I don't need a fridge...

    Scrubber3's long overdue build thread

Yeah, I didn't quite care for the rocker panel color that it had on it. I like the black down there much better. Those jeep guys I ride with are real good fellas and give the montero it's due. I am also working on joining another off road club. Lots a good people round here to ride with. Like...

    Dual battery setup?

I was lucky to not have the ABS in my way. Leaves a whole lot of room on the passenger side wheel well under the hood. Still deciding on of I need a dual battery setup or not though. I typically just charge my other optima and take it with me in case I need it. But that's only if I go waaaay out...

    Scrubber3's long overdue build thread

Thanks man. Best dog I have ever had or ever heard of for that matter. I have 26 people that are in line, wanting him should something happen to me. He won "King of Fredericksburg" and has a crown. This was last October and he is still technically a puppy. I enjoy his company more than anyone.

I don't believe that aluminum is a strong enough metal to be used as a load bearing gear set. I could be wrong......

    FNG " MK75" Build Thread !

Rhino liner will probably be more cost effective, but much harder to take out if you decide it's not for you. Though I will say that you can always just put the rubber mat on top if you decide the rhino liner isn't cutting it. I have stewed over this for a bit as well. I pulled the carpet and...

I will add only a short response. The Xterra is a great platform for overlanding. A locker is worth it's weight in gold.

    Effects of vacuum on 4wd.

Tomorrow I believe I will disconnect the vacuum from the system. Then proceed from there.

    Looking for first expedition/overland rig

I had a 2002 Xterra. I loved it! I have been around and driven a few gen 3 monteros. While they are fully independent suspension, they are very capable offroad/over landing vehicles. Based on my on hand experience, I can tell you that the 3rd gen montero is equally capable to any stock Xterra.

    Scrubber3's long overdue build thread

Few pictures of this memorial weekend. Notice the use of the rock sliders. That rock normally wouldn't have slowed me down, but the truck was in 2wd.

The 3rd gen should go anywhere a stock X goes.

Wheel it the best you can with a spotter if needed for a few trips and proceed with you modifications from there. I drove mine for well over a year before I started to do anything more than a torsion bar adjustment and monotube shocks. As said, these things do very well with very little done...

    Effects of vacuum on 4wd.

That's why I replaced the tcase to begin with. :( The noise started just as I was starting the trails. I decided to keep it out of 4wd the remainder of my trip..... I find it hard to believe that I have been involved with 2 bad t cases in a row giving the history of these. At least , I...

    Monty SR electric fans

The theory of the design was to place it in a position above an area that has an open space as it will allow some water through it. There is a screen to keep some out, but I am sure more water gets in there from the bottom when it rains than through the louver I made. With the fan producing the...

I am nearly positive it is not the t case itself. Something related to it and the front differential..... Yes.

    Effects of vacuum on 4wd.

For this same exact reason. This issue happens in any position the tcase is in other than 2wd. 4, 4hi loc, 4lo loc. yeah, I use 4lo loc most of the time unless there is a need for 4hi loc. The only time I use 4hi is when I need it for the snow.
