Cool vid. If I may, it would have been nice to have some ground level shots along with the aerial shot. Thanks for sharing.

    Toyota Sunrader rebuild

Gonzalo, That hilux is a great platform for such a vehicle like you desire to build. Here is a vehicle that was built with a Toyota truck (Tacoma) as its base. "Super camper" http://thesupercamper.blogspot.com/2006/09/super-camper-inspiration-concept-and.html?m=1 The only thing it is missing...

How far did you travel to pick up your camper?

I hitched a ride with a friend from Austin to Santa Fe to pick up this Toyota Chinook many years ago after buying it on ebay. I have a personal rule of never buying a vehicle without driving it first, or at least seeing it in person, that I keep breaking.

Wanted: Looking for the owner of the 85 Toyota/Chinook Rig

I remember seeing that on Yotatech. http://www.yotatech.com/f115/chinook-camper-85-diesel-259650/ He also posted it here. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/94656-Toyota-Chinook-4x4 It looks like it may have ultimately been sold on ebay.

    '04 DC with 235/85 r16

Ultimately, I'm wondering if 265/75/16 will be good w/o suspension life on my 03 DC Tacoma. From the various posts I've read around the internet it seems like its a good fit with no rubbing other than frame at full steering lock.

Ha! Good point. It still looks a lot better off than Top Gear's truck.

    How to kill a Toyota

Top gear couldn't do it, but someone finally figured out how to kill a Toyota... both a Hilux and a Tacoma gen II meet their demise in this video. http://www.airforce-technology.com/news/newsmbda-conducts-brimstone-live-fire-trials-from-mq-9-reaper-4203820

Jon, Now that it's been a couple of years, what would you say about your experience with the 235/85 r16 tires and factory suspension? Cheers.

Switching my life to "not Jeans". Can I get some recomendations for good NON JEANS

I too have been moving away from wearing jeans in the last year or so. I recently got a pair of Carhartt pants. I always thought the fabric of their products would be stiff and thick denim... on the contrary they are the most comfortable pants I've ever had. They come in great colors too. I...

    1986 bj70 value

Oops, I removed a lot of non BJs from the list after copy/past but missed those two. Ditto on LHD likely having a higher market value, but these are some numbers to a prospective buyer can educate themselves with to know what similar options are out there. Randell, best of luck.

Was looking for a trailer to move gear and kayaks. Found something better!

Cool trailer. I happened upon this image searching for some specs on it.

    1986 bj70 value

I'd suspect that the seller is basing his/her estimate of a market value on sellers such as this specialist in imported LCs http://www.landcruisersdirect.com/ 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ74 LX - $13,200 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ74 LX - $15,100 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ74 LX - $15,100 1989...

    Sandals

Ditto on the Chacos. I had two pairs of Tevas over several years, the best thing about them is their light weight. A complete day of unwashed wear (no river walking, etc) and it definitely smelled like I was wearing a couple of skunks on my feet. My wife bought me a pair of Chacos a couple of...

    this little guy

Nice looking welds, and trailer... and 4Runner :-D What is the tongue box? It looks well built. Regarding your springs, Taco springs might do what you need but they aren't very heavy duty either since the Tacomas weren't built to carry much weight. Have you considered building a thicker pack...

Here is a test of AWD and 4WD.

I happened upon this video recently, comparing a first gen Tacoma Prerunner with locker to a 4WD. I was glad to see the fairly objective head-to-head comparison since I was shopping for a Prerunner when I bought my Tacoma, and I'm glad I bought the 4WD. :-D

Better be cautious of the crack in the seat, it looks like a good way to pinch your winkie.

    Another brilliant DIY mod...

Ninja, I dig the idea; I've thought of doing something similar myself, except that I dislike carrying around gas cans for anything other than a few pints for a stove. I think the major weak point in re-purposing a bike rack for a project like this is likely the hinge and lock mechanism...

Stock height 1st gen 4runner springs

A person might simply try adding a leaf from a junkyard spring pack, just make sure they are the right width. To fix the rear sag (sagged beyond the aesthetic lower fender opening height) in an 88 4Runner I had, I added a long leave from a LUV that was fairly arched and luckily got the perfect...
