For real?
Btw, did anyone else notice the aftermarket speakers installed into the rear panels between the roll bar tubes?
Overall, an incredible specimen of a 4Runner... it'd be cool to end up in the Toyota museum in Torrance.
... but $24,100 is an insane price.... and "reserve not met" ...
FYI, the frame (manufactured by Dana) rust issue was fixed after it was discovered for the units that left the factory. BTW, the issue was caused by the paint/anti-rust treatment, not by bad steel or such. I'm not sure if the error was made by Toyota's specs to Dana, or in Dana's manufacturing...
Here is a mostly abandoned place I'd like to go and see: "Fordlandia" in Brasil.
Henry Ford's endeavor ended in failure of a legendary degree.

The roads out there are pretty rough though...

What did you try and what went wrong?
I've thought that if I were to need to repaint mine, I'd give it a good 80 grit sanding, a tack cloth wipe down and some roll on bedliner.
I say mount them, wire them up and see how they glow :-D
FYI, in case you are not familiar with this kind of electronics, you should buy/build a harness kind of like this one.. fused with a relay:

Aux lights like those could be useful for illuminating the sides of the roads. In Latin America, there are a lot more animals, people, drunks, etc that are walking/stumbling/sleeping/etc on the edge of the roads, especially in rural areas where municipal lighting is non-existent. I remember...
It looks like the "porta-chef" name used to be owned by a different company...
There is a similar one for sale on ebay that includes the description, " Porta Chef Model ST 200." and "Made in Rochester Ny. By Family Camping. 4 Elton St. 14607"
In some brief searching, I didn't find much on...
To answer your question about reliability, I had a 1988 4Runner
I bought it at 95K miles, drove it for 10 years to 235K when the darn thing blew the headgasket. Terrible compared to the 22R ;-P
When they do blow though, I've heard that the engines are commonly ruined.. the block is commonly...
Interesting rig...
Is that the hood under the windshield (the dash)? What's purpose does it serve to enclose that space?
Is there any info about that stove? Fuel type, brand?
Nice price for good rack!
That's a cool rack, I've not seen that model before. I like that it's low and open in the front.
You didn't mention that $500 is 1/3 to 1/4 of retail price for this model. Great price, someone should pick it up for that!
Best of luck with the sale and trip.
Bump...
Humperdink,
Welcome to the forum. I hope you stick around.
I just flipped through your trip tracker... it looks like you hit most of the best spots in the area. :-D

Regards,
Vues are good vehicles.. my parent's have a 2004 V6 and it has treated them very well.
If you can find one, I highly recommend looking for a V6. 2004 was a good year for them.
This SUV from General Motors' Saturn division trades V6s for 2004, going from a 181-hp GM engine to a 250-hp Honda...
Yeti, great photos, you are hitting up some great spots.
I'm a bit confused about your route, but since SanDiego via Canada was mentioned, I'd highly recommend going through Idaho if you're going that way. There is a lot of old volcanic stuff out there (I'm a bit of a volcano junkie)...
The issue is that the 22R and 20R intake ports are very different shapes
http://www.lcengineering.com/TechNotes/?techid=49
Once I saw a guy on a Celica forum cut up a 22RE and a 20R intake then tigged them together to make a 20RE (he had gotten the EFI from a 83-85 Celica 22RE also). He...
I ate breakfasts cooked on one of those in many a national and state park when I was young.
BTW, if you want to find out when it was made, the year of manufacture of the tank is stamped into the underside of one of the two hangers.
Here's a fun website about these stoves...
