I encountered that same problem in Nicaragua... beaters were exorbitantly priced. I saw a 1979 2WD hilux in rough shape with a "S/V $2500" and those are USD. The worst thing about auto shopping there was that most people don't maintain their vehicles well.
Best of luck with the Prado. Like...
I used to make these in the boy scouts wayback when.
BTW, one other way to do the melting is with a double boiler. I put the wax in a coffee can, then put the can into a pot with boiling water. There's no chance of burning the wax and it doesn't get too hot (max 100*C).
A similar method that...
I spotted this beut today.... an awesome looking truck, although a little pricey:

That's a cool, box. I wasn't aware that the military used kits like this... it got me googling, and I happened upon this cool box:

My LC in Nicaragua had them... it was nice to be able to leave the windows down an inch while out in the country while it was parked or while driving around, and it kept the unexpected rains out of the inside. They were also tinted, and what Corax about says 'tinted blinders' is very true...
It looks like TORC Toyotafest was an awesome event again this year.
I saw your car in the background of someone's photo on another forum:

Are you going to be in bear country? I'm thinking about how it is not recommendable to sleep where you food is prepared or stored.
BTW, the trailer looks like it is coming along great. I've got plans to build a similar one next fall/winter.
Dude, that sucks.
Ditto. Perhaps you could contact the seller to get a copy... I'm sure they'll assist since it'll likely result in another sale :-)
Depending on the damage and what the insurance considers it to be worth now, it could work out for you to keep it, get a big check for damages...
Don't overlook that the 2005 Taco gets about ~10% better fuel economy than the first gen.... along with bigger bed and more interior room, it makes for a better truck... now, had they kept the truck size as the first gen and put the advanced engine, composite bed, etc in it perhaps they could...
My guess would be the bad reputation Ford (and the other domestic manufacturers) had for 4 cylinder engines... it's what drove people towards Toyota and other Japanese brands.
That's a pretty good fit so far.
Are you going to hack up the factory top to make the mating edges of the wildernest top? It looks like you'll be able to pull it forward some to reduce the overhang in the rear too.
Actually, I hadn't planned on winning anything either, I just wanted a better parking spot and it was cheap to enter a vehicle :-D I spent most of my time hanging out with some guys from www.1stgencelica.com who had come down from San Fran... luckily they put my truck right next to the Celicas...
I went to that show once when I lived in LA in 2005. What an incredible collection of vehicles. That year I showed my chinook which won the "Most Unique Vehicle" award.
Have fun at the show, take lots of photos :-D
Thanks for the replies, there's a lot of good info here.
I like what I read about the Glock 26. Both the mrs and I have small hands, combined with my other preferences, lends us to a smaller frame pistol. It's also cool that it fits the larger cap magazines (including the 33 rnds :Wow1:)...
I expect to soon be on the market for an auto 9mm. My plans for it are target shooting, concealed license and personal defense, so relatively small size and light weight are important. I'm going with 9mm for control and to make practice shooting less $$.
I'm thinking one of the three:
