Get a piece of rubber/plastic door edge trim to keep on the lower edge of your shovel blade. Those QuickFists won't let go, but after a few miles on a bumpy track they will let that round handle rotate enough that the shovel blade will be resting/vibrating against your topper. I don't mind mine...

Considering the 4yr-old nature of this thread, Pelican may not use those model numbers anymore. I'd look at the dimensions of the cases and then use those on the Pelican website's 'case finder' to see what they have now.

I'd say the pros and cons are the same as if you were debating a truck bed cover. How you use your trailer most of the time should determine whether or not you want a hard-mounted solution. Harley's tarp is a pretty good compromise between having a hard cover and needing to haul oversize stuff...

Was wondering about tandem axle offroad trailers again the other day and looky here. Google brings me right back around to where I've been before, lol. I know, I know... Tandem/dual axles on a trailer would be a limitation on rough terrain and in tight spaces due to the extra weight and size...
